I would change out the silvertop to a blacktop 4age and do a port and polish to the head. Then replace the factory cams with Toda intake/exhaust cams. Replace the pistons, valve train, and run open ITB's on the 20v blacktop. Followed by sending another 20v ecu to techtom (TOM's RACING) and have them chip the ecu and fine tune it to the upgrades I have done to the engine. Yeah, that's what I would do. Increase the HP and make the car more fun to drive by hearing the ITB's in higher RPM's. The problem is though is a dyno to see the new engine HP output.

Silvertop has more torque anyways. Blacktop is only rated 110tq and only 10hp more than a Silvertop.

I would put in some Toda cams. Whatever size that will retain the VVT, then some cam gears, Toda valve springs & retainers, maybe some headwork.

In the end, it wouldn't end up being much. Might hit 160whp...

I think you can build a pretty solid 7A-FE N/A motor and get some decent numbers out of it if you put enough cash and effort into it. I'm 17, so don't think the older guys r ganging up on you. I love throwing my Celica around a corner more than anything. And no offense, but you can't honestly think you were gonna have a fast car when you bought a 1.8 liter 4-cylinder Celica, did you? get some driving under ur belt, then mod from there. You don't really need a racecar when you live in the city. Most speed limits around here are between 45 and 60. Why waste your money on a ton of performance mods when you don't get to use them all the time?

But why? Why not buy the one he did and use the extra money to upgrade suspension, motor, and exterior? Because if I had lets say 7,000 I would rather pick a 94 celica over a 99 celica regardless of miles, because I already know what I wanted out of the car. Theres a reason why I chose my celica. I saw the gt-four front end and the 3sgte and that started my quest to find a celica hatchback. Now I have her and own't let her go.

My GF just bought a Yaris and damn, do I love that new car feeling, everything is tight and shiny and un-rusted. My celica feels lose and it would cost more than its worth to change all the bushings, I tried changing a worn arm in the rear but everything is binded together. Sometime it's wiser to sell a car and save that repair money on a good downpayment and getting something that is just as enjoyable and not new (a new car's cost is robbery IMO, wait until its 2 years old and saves litteraly thousands).

Dont listen to the negative comments, if yo u go to defgephs file you can see that he has a step by step instruction manual to swap a st to a 3sgte, i am 19 and have no motor experience but am going to do it, although i am mecanically inclined. study the facts and see how long it takes to swap, dont be scared of power, respect it. im a extremist and was sent to boarding school in costa rica forr a reason. to tell you the truth i havent even been driving for a year yet and im allready drifting and topping out at speed above 150 ( i work at a toyota dealership) so its all about confidence and practice, i drive frobably 3/5 of every day just getting to know my cars handeling. i have a 94 gt right now and im fully confident that i can handle more power, after all i fly down i 45 at 150+. its not about the car, its the driver. just the other day i smoked a corvette because he didnt know his car enough to judge gaps between cars. get to know your car, then make it faster. i dont think you realize that a swap will take about 2-3 months depending on how well u are mechanically. so with this said, you will need a lil commuter car. i wouldnt bother with the suspention just yet, check this link out, http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28825&st=0 , then see if you still want to do it.. i found the clip i wanted for 1800 and ill be able to get it for 1400 becasue of our dealership account with jdm. you will have to upgrade a lot of your st parts to gt parts but thats all included in the 4grand price range. defgeph says he did a st for 4 grand and from the looks of it, i dont doubt it. the only thing aobut tuning the st motor is later on you will want more power, but cant. theres no replacement or dispacement. and the 3sgte is made for the boost so it wont croak on you. boosting your high mileage engine looks to be a waste of money to me! if you want we can even do these swaps togeather. just msg me and well se whats goin on.

You know what I really think that the corvette was just cruising and you passed him by and thought you were racing him. And yes a factory GT has no chance with getting to 150 +. haha yall are lame, i wasnt in my celica doing 150 + i was on my friends bike. and btw i was racing the vette, he just ouldnt handle the power in it. which also shows that you dont need to be making your car faster than you can handle! ohh and btw messing with innocent people on the streets is half of the fun...
