Seal Carbonfiber without fiberglass resign - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #54243 3 posts Started by Lil-Joe101
I haven't tested this theory but it sounds possible. For those who want to make carbonfiber molds but don't have the equipment. Do think it is possible to liquify silicone and use it as a hardening agent for carbionfiber wrap? Like say you want a carbonfiber wrapped valve cover. Could you lay carbon fiber material on you valve cover and evenlly spread or spray liquid silcone on it alow it to dry and recieve the same effect as fiberglass resign and hardener? Its sound possible. What do you think?????

Its not gonna happen.

You will get Dry CF from inside, and it wount stick to the surface. Resin softens CF / FG and penetrates into it, plus it kinda melts the CF / FG and goes through it onto the surface.

if you used silicone wouldnt that melt under the heat of the motor leaving you with a soggy mess and a ruined valve cover? like u said u woudl melt it first then put it on what keeps it from melting again. i dont know the melting point it just doesnt seam likely to me that it woudl work
