Topic #54337 23 posts Started by 808celica
can anyone post up a "how to" on this amazing seafoam stuff i've been hearing about in alot of other forums as well as this/

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
go to Autozone and buy a can. there are directions on the back. a lot of people use the pcv hose as their vacuum line to suck it through.

you can also pour it in the gas tank, and into the oil.
The directions are on the bottle.

You mean take the hose off the PCV right.

yeah the hose for the pcv, or if you have an st, there is a circular cap with several small hoses leading to it you can detatch one of these and hit the throttle as well. but be careful IF YOU PUT IT IN YOUR OIL be sure to change your oil soon afterwards (it cleans out deposits and may do harm if you leave the seafoam in their for too long)

i bought 2 cans + a longer vac hose so i could slightly rev car while sucking it thro vacuum..
1 can in gas tank w/ car off
1/3 in crankcase w/ car off
2/3 thro some vacuum line connected to tps w/ car on and slightly revving and let it die when it sucks up last bit
wait 40min
turn on car. rev it until no more smoke and then drove it around for 20min

then i changed oil 1 week later
then changed oil again slightly earlier than regular 3000miles...
and replaced fuel filter

hope that's rite...

Do this at night if you can. The amount of smoke that seafoam creates can draw a bit of unwanted attention in the day time.

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
I put the Seafoam into an Arrowhead Water bottle that had the "sport cap" on it - instead of the pop-up sippy thing on water bottles, it had a little flip-top the same size as the pop up ones that was blue instead of the usual white. Use a knife or scissors to open up the nozzle a bit wider, and the opening is a perfect size to fit a vacuum line into. It created a great vacuum to suck the seafoam up neatly and easily.
cool cool i'll prolly do the pcv sucky thingy. and drop some in my oil.

i'll prolly wont try the gas tank route.

i tried it...poured inside the the vavle cover by opening the oil cap, fed to vacuum line, & gas tank...i followed direction and no smoke came out at all...weird though...maybe my engine is clean...but it seem impossible...something should come out...at least a little bit of smoke...but i got nothing...did it right on the spot of the autozone shop...kindasad.gif don't know if something went wrong...i didn't want to say anything about it because i didn't see any smoke..not even a puff...so i just changed my oil after rev(s) mutilple of time annoying those around me and left....kinda felt..well...really no feeling... frown.gif

That is weird. I mean, when I did it on mine, it smoked but not too much. It wasn't as dramatic as when I had a bad turbo and a broken piston at the same time, but it was thick enough to draw attention.

step 1: go to the beach with a bucket
step:2 wait for a tidal wave to catch as much seafoam as you can

step 3: Remove crabs from bucket ensuring that suitable protective clothing is used.

you pull off a vaccum line that did not give enough suction.

It is so easy to use seafoam. i dont know why people have such a hard time doing it. start your engine, pull off any vaccum hose. Put your finger on the open end of the hose. If you feel it sucking on your finger then your good. If the hose does not suck onto your finger you go the wrong hose.

I used the big brake booster hose because it was 1) long enough 2) gave a good ammount of suction. 3) easy to find.
i did mine 2 years ago... but we have it under a different name here, not seafoam.

and as suggested, try to do it at night. also it would be best to do it near the highway and then start driving. works best while revving imo.

what are the possible negative effects on our car with the use of seafoam?

Pandelica 2.0 in progress.
welll with my guess.......the contaminents left in your oil will screw with your engine.......if you do put it in your crank case.?????

.......ummmm if you put it in your gas tank.......my guess would be screw up your pump and injector?????????

remember its my guess feel free to shut me down.........lol

seafoam ruined my life. I used to have a wife and kids, all gone because of my seafoam addiction. oh there they are, in the smoke. nvm.

i used seafoam on all my cars... hmm actually... nope not my 6gc, but I did use it on my alltrac, and i guess it helped for awhile until my car just suddenely stopped working one day. It's a very sad tale.

goodluck with the seafoam man smile.gif
