shaking car - 6G Celicas Forums

SOOOO my car is shaking when I accelerate around 67mph. But as soon as it hits 70 it completly stops. It doesn't matter if I'm going up hill or not but has anyone ever heard of this happening? Also I looked at the rpm's last time it was happening and it was barely over the 2 so its not really high or anything.
Possibly an issue with the power steering system. This is more of an estimation considering our cars have variable assisted power steering and at 70 I believe the power steering almost completely stops assisting.

check alignment...

i agree with Jeunesse tht happen to me when i put my new rims and tires without getting an aligment.the car started shaking aroud 75.
mine shakes around 90!!!!

lol.. just check your wheel alignment... mine stop shaking when I did the alignment. It used to shake when I get to 80kmh then stops at 130kmh.

if its shaking and on and off id presume it may be something with wheel balance, possibly hit a pot hole, knocked a weight off or something to that effect may ahve caused it, alignment to my understanding would cause shaking as a specific speed interval like that, more so a wheel balance issue. try that first as its usually alot cheaper than a full alignment (think balance is like $20 around here and an alignment is like $80) and unless your smakin some curbs pretty hard your alignment shouldn't be messed up, and if it is adjust your driving

(but as i remember your the cool one who threw your wallet into coreys car dwg)

if its not your wheels then may be your trans having some type of shifting issue if its only at those speeds relevent on how much accelerating, if it does it no matter what at those speeds im gonna go with balance

Now that you mention it, I think it could be the alignment. I hit a curb real bad a while back and shaved off part of the rim and about a month ago I went over a curb. When you are parking and you are the closest spot and you go to back up out of the spot but you don't back up enough, Yeah, thats what I seem to do.
It could be the tire balance, if your tires are out of balance it will cause a bad vibration in the car at surtain speeds but smooth out when accelerated

You could also check your brake-discs... they may have been broken due to hot disc, hitting cold water...

shaking at certain mph is wheel balance or possible bent rim (which would cause it to be out of balance).
pulling to one side or steering wheel not straight is alignment.
shaking while braking is rotors out of round.
pulling to one side while braking is possible frozen caliper.

Could also be axels? i know mine need replacing, and my car recently begins shaking at around 60 but stops around 70. idk look under there check you boots and get wheels balanced first

hahah you guys up there drive fast...........honestly the fastest i drove was 65mph..........on the freeway...........town/city driving.......25-35-45 depends..........lol

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
Had the same issue from 70-72 only. My rear wheels were not balanced properly and it fixed the issue. I knew it had to the be rears as I had the fronts balanced when I took a nail in the driver side.

rear wheels you will feel the whole car shake
fronts will make the steering wheel shake

I will have to get the wheels checked...balance that is...I just got back from vacation but luckily I still have a week left before I start school once again
