94 geo prizm engine help!!! - 6G Celicas Forums

I have a friend who has a 94 geo prizm the 1.6l. well last week he blew his engine and now he wants to buy my 7afe 1.8l. well I am wondering what is needed to fit the engine in his 5sp tranny? will he need a diffirent harnnes and ecu? what about motor mounts?

If he has a 1.6 then its probably a 4a-fe. Since they're the same family engines the motor mounts should work fine. If you both have 5 speeds then there's no problem but if you have an auto and he has a 5 speed you're going to need to find a tranny for the 7a (and you can't have mine) as well as the ecu for a 7a manual.

"He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends.""Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn.""What?""Just do it."".......He said yes.""Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."".......Sweet. Thanks.""No problem."
lol naw boith of ours are 5spd . so all he needs is the motor and ecu?

yep, the 4afe ecu may run the car...but best to use the 7afe ecu. make sure both are of the same emissions spec, such as you both do or dont have egr and you both do or dont have the same number of cats and O2 sensors.

Well I think there's more to a swap than just trading the ecu, engine and tranny but in essence, yes.

other than that its pretty much just taking one out and putting the other in. the corolla/prizm also came with the 7afe so the mounts will lineup, trans should works since both are A engines, etc.

are they both the same year or atleast the same emissions spec?

also there is once sensor difference between the 7afe and 4afe, the knock sensor. the 7afe has one and the 4afe doesnt. i'd suggest swapping the 7afe pcm with the 7afe engine to retain the knock contronl of spark timing, theres a reason why the 7afe has that!

he'll need the knock sensor, wire harness, and any of the egr stuff you had.
