Someone local to me is selling this for 25 bucks, was wondering, will it fit our cars and is it even worth having?
adjustable strut tower support bar fits 2000-2005 celica - 6G Celicas Forums
Nope. Bolt holes don't line up. One of my friends had a 7th gen and after his battery hit the strut bar and grounded out he pulled it off. I placed it in the 6th gen bay and none of the holes lined up.

redrill the holes?
Maybe if you're getting it for 25 bucks, but it's not really worth it in the end.

Sounds like it might just be more hassle than it's worth, and redrilling the holes I imagine would kinda defeat the purpose by compromising structural integrity, so I think I'll just pass on it. Thanks for the help.
No it would not compromise the structural integrity unless the new holes are extremly close to the old ones. I'd do what plyr said and redrill the holes if it were me but you can find OEM and aftermarket STBs everywhere so W/E - it's your choice but shouldn't be difficult at all to do.

so, if none of the holes line up, but the bar is the correct shape and length, wouldn't it be just as good as doing a dodge neon bar?

It's this one:

Now I'm wondering if for $25 I should pick it up and make it fit. Any opinions? Or is it just lame?

I'd get it and have a go at modifying it. But then again I don't know how technically inclined you are. The fact that you are weighing up the possibility probably means you'll be able to sort it out.

As for being technically inclined, I hold my own pretty well... otherwise I probably wouldn't be on this site!
So if I can mount it securely (sounds dirty) would it be a respectable upgrade or would it just make me a poser?
Just do it and f*@k the haters.
BTW - the biggest thing about making a STB work properly is to not oversize the holes anymore than you have to. If the bolts can move inside the hole before the bar braces - it's not doing any good.

Nah I don't think it would make you a poser. I've read elsewhere that the strut bar isn't all that useful without a decent suspension setup, but for 25 bucks who cares? Go for it!

I've got a doge neon strut bar, basically the same thing. you have to drill holes in order to make it fit. it stiffens up the front end a bit (speaking of sounding dirty...) but it's not really a major improvement. it's not going to make your car handle uber good, but it's not like it makes it worse. it's only $25 though and it's definately worth that just for the looks in the engine bay!

It's still an ST so even if it handles well it'll still be slow as dookie. But eventually, like in the near-ish future, there is a better suspension on the horizon, so perhaps this is the start of a beautiful relationship between myself and my steering wheel.

as for the bar i would be very carful. You need to make sure that the orignal holes will be far away from the new ones youll have to make. if it where me, since i assume you havnt done this kinda of work before, nor have the right tools for it i wouldnt do it, and even if you have the tools and the know how, its to close for comfort for me. id just go and get a bar that will fit what you got and spend the extra money for the comfort of knowing that it will not F you later. but thats just me.

So it looks like I'm gonna actually get it on trade - the guy needs a logo designed for a sweatshirt or a sticker, and that happens to be what I do for a living (graphic design). So I'm gonna whip up a sticker design and he's gonna let me have the bar. At which point I will assess the situation - if it's gonna look cheesey and half-assed, it probably will be, in which case I'll sell it myself and put the $ toward one that's right for my car. BUT if the original holes are far enough away, I might just go for it.
im glad you decided to get it, anyoen can buy parts that fit perfectly, but to make your own... that just makes you soo much cooler than them
