what about castrol GTX 10w 40?? Is that good for celicas? I use it on my other ride.
Dude, motor oil is motor oil. If your celica has a motor, then motor oil is probably fine to use. (assuming you're not buying O'Reilly brand oil or something worse) You wanted to know the best kind for a celica, batman answered.

"He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends.""Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn.""What?""Just do it."".......He said yes.""Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."".......Sweet. Thanks.""No problem."
BUT more importantly, it should go through a good oil filter. I suggest a TRD oil filter :L(ultra filteration & flow)

Unless you live in Europe and the OEM Toyota filter is the same quality/build as the TRD oil filter.

About the Oil:
On a rebuild engine I wouldn't use anything else then Motul, otherwise every reknown brand is good enough. Castrol/Mobil1 etc

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
Amsoil Series 3000 0W30 full synthetic
I prefer Castrol GTX.. unless your rocking a rebuild. Really a matter of preference imho. Check out def's engine in Stefs 7a rebuild thread, daaamn clean and he used dino oil.

the type of oil he used really isn't what made that much of a difference. its regular oil changes and having an engine that isn't burning oil that makes it that clean. in my old engine, the oil control rings were worn and doing nothing at that point which caused the massive oil burning, and when I switched to synthetic in a failed attempt to make things better it cleaned too much out and I began to have massive leak problems.

I use Mobil1 synthetic 5w-30 in my rebuild because in the long run it'll keep the oil passages cleaner and it won't gunk up as much.

I thought that picture of a worn oil control ring was from defs engine? But yeah ofcourse regular oil changes has a huge impact on engine life
how often do you guys do yours? every 5,000km 10,000km or more?

I do mine every 5

they were. his engine was starting to burn oil but he just stopped driving it and swapped instead of driving with bad oil control rings for 30k miles.

Oil is oil but of course don't get the super generic ones, at least get one with a recognized name. for oil filters there are premium versions of the regular ones or just stick with an OEM toyota filter.

on any toyota motor you NEED to go with oem toyota, or k&n / mobil 1

or some other brand with an anti drain back valve. its cruicial to not have dry starts on toyota motors or any kind, thats why whey are notoriouse for burning oil, becasue people use cheap oil filters.

what about on a 7afte? is mobil 1 good enuf or something else shud be used?
I use Amsoil, works well and actually cleans out the engine. Only problems are it seems to burn and is a little expensive.
Valvoline 5w30 and Wix filters. cheap and gets the job done.

i would suggest toyota, mobil 0ne or k&n filter if you have a corolla, tundra or supra it doesn't matter
