I want to have an exhaust system like my boyfriends firebird trans am 2000 cat-back exhaust system. But is that possible with a four cylinder? I have seen a celica with dual exhaust on cardomain.com but would it affect my fuel economy more than 10 mpg or would it sound terrible or would it mess up my engine and what not...? Thanks... >>

Thanks Kuya1284 and Dazzzza, but what did Kuya1284 mean by back pressure? I don't want to ask my boyfriend stuff he thinks I should know and that sounds like I should know what it means, but can yal re-enlighten me again, please.

Dazzzza and anyone else with the dual exhaust, is it worth it if I only plan on putting in a drop in K&N air filter and where might I get the dual exhaust from, because its not like the Firebird, you can't go to any random website and get it, right? So that was a run on sentence, but I tried... >>

would a "Y" pipe in 2.25" work with out depleating back pressure? then you would get the best of both worlds, looks and function. can you even route a Y pipe under the celica?

By Y I mean pretty much all the way back... basically one step further then just welding on a second exhaust tip...

I have another little question which would be better getting a dual outlet single muffler or getting two mufflers with single or dual outlets? Does it make it sound any better and will it affect my back pressure dramatically?

I have a single muffler with dual outlets. (dual canisters) It's basically two small canister mufflers fitted together. the only difference is it's a tad quieter than a single outlet.

Hay thanks guys... and now do any body have any particular type or brand of muffler that I should buy... On firebirds, Flowmaster and Magnaflow are the two best, so does that apply to the celica st.

i got a custom magnaflow system. I'm plannin on upgrading to duallies when i go turbo. looks and sounds great. im pretty sure that if something is a good product and it is universal, then its good universally. But yea, the dual exhaust is kind of ridiculous on an un-modded I4, but hey, whatever floats your boat. or gets rid of your fumes. >> and one word to the wise, if you plan on getting a bodykit and you have a dual exhaust you are gonna need to have your rear bumper modified, cuz all the bodykit rear bumpers (except carcept) are made for single exhaust.
