Motor swap options and opinions - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #55237 4 posts Started by xruffwvrydax
Hi there. I am still new to the whole Toyota scene and I don't really know a whole lot about the motors in these yet. I have a 1994 Toyota Celica ST and it has an automatic tranny and something is wrong with the motor. Now, what I am wondering about is what should I do? The motor that is in it now is the 7AFE and I know that it doesn't have hardly any power so I'm wanting something that can be driven daily and have some options to building. I know that there are bound to be a good bit of options out there and would like to hear what you all have to say. I don't want to do an automatic to manual swap, so any motors pertaining to that will be automatically ruled out, LoL. I'm also wondering if anyone knows where I can maybe pick up performance rods, pistons, cams, etc for the 7AFE motor that way I can just have a rebuilt motor with a little bit of performance. If you have suggestions on a different motor, please let me know how much trouble it is to swap these motors, what all is needed, and about how quick is it going to be. Thanks and I can't wait to see what you all have to say.

ok, i'm thinking about doing the 4age swap into an 1994 toyota celica st with an automatic tranny. my question is will the old harness, ecu, tranny and motor mounts all work fine with it or will i have to get them for the 4age?
