Dr Tweak's Grand Tour of America - 6G Celicas Forums

CHANGE OF PLANS!

Okay guys, HUGE update. I've decided that there were way too many people and places to see in just one month of traveling around, so I've come up with a solution to the problem, which is centered around this:

IPB Image

That's right, this baby is sitting in my driveway RIGHT NOW. In fact, I'm selling my house and all my earthly belongings that don't fit in the RV and I'm going on the road INDEFINITELY! I'll be doing wiring conversions in the RV as I go and I might bring a tig-welder along as well to do on-site fabrication.

With this setup, I'll be able to take my time and travel around the US, get to see the country, live very simply for a while, and get to meet lots of people from the forums and from shops that I work with. So keep adding yourselves to the list, we'll be making our way around slowly but surely!

PS: Anyone want to buy a nice house in Savannah, totally renovated, fully furnished for $159k? How about a 2004 Toyota Tundra 4-door Limited? Or a '93 Lexus GS300 maybe? drtweak@phoenixtuning.com

So there's been a little chatter about possibly having a PNW meet after the rain stops... somewhere feasible for us "down south" in the Salem to Portland area, as well as those "up north" in Seattle. Maybe we should plan it around when you're coming this direction, you could kill several birds with one stone!
Maybe us Houston guys can make things easier for you and be in one place at the same time. I see you need to do some work as well when your here - I have a garage you are welcome to use if you need it.

That is so awesome! How much time off do you have to do all this? I've always wanted to the same thing.

Funny, i've been traveling more around the world than i have in my own home country. kindasad.gif

x2 for Houston. It's a big city but we can all meet up somewhere. If you're doing this close to summer I might suggest doing something at night. The daytime here in the summer can get, well, dangerous.

"He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends.""Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn.""What?""Just do it."".......He said yes.""Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."".......Sweet. Thanks.""No problem."
Depending on when you get out to the east coast, we should probably try to setup another DWG meet or something. That way you can meet the whole east coast crew in one shot.

u can count me down as toronto/michigan cuz im literaly a stones throw away from the bridge to Detroit.
You'll be missing one of the best parts of the US if you miss Oregon. =] And we could always put you up for a night...

Well, I've decided that this spring, around May, I will be taking a tour of the entire country. Leaving from GA, I will travel north all the way up the east coast (into Canada), across to at least Montana (possibly all the way to Washington), and then down, Colorado, Arizona, etc, then back across the southern US through Texas all the way back to GA.

The reason that I'm bringing it up here is that I would really love to stop in and meet some of the many great people that I've met on the forums over the last 6+ years. For that matter, I've also been considering packing up my tools and bringing them along in case anyone wants me to make a "house call" while along the way.

So, if you're interested in getting together just to meet and hang out or to get some work done, post here in this thread so I can start finalizing my route a little more!

As I go along I'm going to take a lot of pics especially of us getting together with fellow Toyota owners, and I'm going to try to start and update a thread as I go around the country... biggrin.gif

Dude, you are amazing. I think that is really awesome that you are doing that and also very generous to anyone who might seek your aid (even if paid). To see someone with a real passion and doing that has my acknowledgement and respect. I know you have major rep. Be safe out there.

Well it looks like you have a stop in Calgary, Alberta, Canada already. So if you are here I would like to meet you.
Might get you to help build the 5SFTE if I haven't already got it installed by the time you get here! P.S. When is the chromoly flywheel going to be ready?
