bummer. Nice shade of red though.

Can one use high-temp paint on calipers though?
did you do your strut brace aswell?

look at the heat shield, the paint burned. haha

on the calipers is nice, the strut bar is nice. guess the shield gets too hot everynow and then laugh.gif

there should be a base coat that you put on first, it will more than likely be silver. you put that on and it helps for higher temps then you add your other paint on that and it should work.

Check out my Celica for sale!!!
Or just get the 1600 degree paint wink.gif

It is actually 1200 Degree paint, and you can get the Dupli Color readily at Autozone, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, etc. I am planning on painting my head shield too. For the GT, how many bolts do you have to unscrew to get it off?? Thanks
3.
And they do make 1600 degree also - just have to look a little harder for it.

3 Bolts??? Look closely at his pic. There are at least 5 bolts on the upper heat shield, then probably 4 on the lower shield! I'm just wondering if there are any hidden that I cannot see.
laugh.gif Sorry - was thinking about the turbo heat shield. I haven't had a stock header on a 5S in 3-4 years. laugh.gif

powder coating is probably the best method for these kinds of applications.. unless there is a paint that can withstand exhaust temperatures.. iono

is that masking tape on your intake hose?

masking tape hehe

caliper paint is good till about 500*

you're manifold gets to about 1200*

Yeah 500deg paint is good for the valve cover but not the heat shield. I painted mine with the 1200deg (or whatever it was) but used a 500deg clear coat on it. The clear started to discolor and peal away, while the 1200deg paint was just fine.

well its nice to know that someone liked the job I did on my strut brace :L

I was admiring the strut brace myself, too (now that I'm the new owner of a fancy new strut brace/bar/thingie)

look, I'm learning! laugh.gif
yes its masking tape. laugh.gif it adds 25 hp

there is only one hidden bolt, is the one that connects a s shape piece of metal to the engine and manifold. Not difficult to get to.

the rest of screws are all visible. no probl.
