Topic #55370 17 posts Started by sparkle
I'm considering putting a grill down where the black things are.

can you remove the posts??
is it a good idea?
if so would it look ok? people keep saying it would look amazing but im not too sure.

The black posts have a cover over them [that's the black part] underneath is the body colored posts. You could use zip ties to attach the grill behind the posts and then put the covers back over them to hide the zipties. i did this for a friend of mine and it looked professional. As ar as would it look good - that's purely an aesthetic choice so you will have to decide if that's what looks good on your car.

Yup. Others have cut off the posts (which does weaken the structure of the bumper a little, not significant. Or you could place the grille in front of the posts and use the posts to help support he grille.

cool. do most places sell the metal pre-cut or just by the sheet?

andy's has it for $50 but i think its for a sheet.
grip tuning black medium diamond
anyone know of a better deal?

O'reilley's has the chrome APC sheet that you will have to cut to fit. IMO the chrome is just too ricey - but again that's an aesthetic choice only you can make for your car.
BTW - The tC grill also fits well behind the bars [won't fit in front unless you do some slight modification] - I've seen that on a 6GC and it looks good to me.

The vertical "teeth" in the "mouth" of your car. The facelift bumper has 3 and I believe the 94-95 bumper has 4-5?

laugh.gif I've always thought our cars look rather like a shark with the facelift like a Great White kinda shark [especially the silver and white 6gcs] and the '94-95 like a whale shark laugh.gif

just put an ss-iii grille on mine, all snap in to factory spots. it clips into the back of the 3 posts, then along the top, you have to *carefully* take the pins out and shove them through the grille back into the crash bar. dunno what look you are going for though.

~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207
def like it better on both the older and newer ones behind the posts. looks a lot cleaner that way. otherwise take out the posts completely.

I don't care for the silver myself, but it looks pretty clean so that's cool. I think you should do the sides by putting in fogs! smile.gif

I like it behind the posts on Jaws' car... I'm shooting for that myself this spring once the rain stops.
its actually black, reflecting lighter.

we experimented both ways and decided at lease for now that front was good.
i may cut the teeth out later

as far a fogs, i would like to do that. someone else suggested too and i may actually do that instead
