Where can I find a decent affordable short shift kit?
Please see the "Parts Database" of this here www.6gc.net
Check out ebay. 7th gen SS will work with our cars. Or you can go for the TRD quickshifter. I recommend the quickshifter. I know its a lot more than the ss kit from ebay, but well worth it. Well I don't have it yet, but I will soon.

Does the TRD quickshift kit still come with the shift knob too?
doubt it derrick.

and to make things worse the trd knob is like $70. i still dont know if i have a short shifter. laugh.gif everyone whos driven my car says i have SS.

could changing your shifter give you problems with a grinding tranny of crappy shifting tranny??

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
if u ask around, some places will include it, some wont. so ask b4 u buy.

When I ordered mine it came with the knob. It was like 180 total, but so worth it.

That looks like a good deal...anyone with experience know anything about it? I've never heard of the brand.
20 bucks for shipping is a rip
my TRD Quickshifter came with a knob. yes, it was $180 but it was worth every penny.

panda and hurley, where did u get ur shifters from? and are they thenewer versions? sry mike, i wouldnt kno if they do. but with me, i would rather spend more money once the right way, with knowing that the item is made for our vehicle then something is not and guesstimating with it.

Just dont take shortcuts

7th gen is a straight shaft.
I like my TWM short shifter, but then again its the only one I've ever had on my celica.

yes, the diffrences are huge,
the ebay is just a straight shaft, thats it.
it "fits" and "works" but IMO is quite notchy.

the quickshifter, is a complete assembely, and shifts VERY smoothly.
there is a big diffrence between a "short" shifter, and a quickshifter.
a short shifter is just that, short, and by effect, makes the throws shorter. more for looks than anything, most of the time makes shifting HARDER.
a quickshifter is made for racing, where you have BOTH hands on the wheel.
its made so that you can quickly reach down, flick the shifter into the next gear, and get your had back to the wheel quick.

Where is the best place to buy the TRD one? I've looked around for one that includes the ball but can't find one just the tsw ones.
TRD gives you the least reduction out of all SKs for our cars
TWM gives you the greatest reduction.

TRD = ~40% shorter throw
TWM = ~60% shorter throw

I'm a huge fan of the TWM...cheaper + better function.
I had the the Shortshifter from the 7thgen in my GT, its same like TWM. And costs in Germany are 59€ with a polisched Gearknob and red Numbers. It is very short. biggrin.gif

I agree with Manny 100%. there is a massive difference between the two.
the 7th gen shifter is very notchy, but some people like it like that.
I've never had a stock shifter for comparisson to that but when comparing the 7th gen and the TRD shifters the TRD wins in quality and smoothness hands down. although, that's why it's much more expensive.

I installed my 7th gen ebay shortshifter today, and I have to say I definitely believe that the TRD ones are much smoother. I noticed that with the new SS, it's pretty much exactly like stock except definitely a way shorter throw. It's pretty stiff though, which is one of the things I liked, but then again I've never had anything shift smoother than stock haha. So basically I agree too, except it's not really harder than stock. kindasad.gif
