Thermostat Question - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #55617 10 posts Started by bcelica555
Recently I picked up a thermostat from Avanced auto for my 1994 Celica GT. Its to big to fit where the other one is so I was wondering what the part number would be for this part. They said thats its the only one kind that they had for my car and it doesnt look like the ones they have for the ST would fit either so I'm not sure what the problem is and I'm having a hard time finding the part number for the thermostat in my car so I soppose thats all I need if someone could help me out?
A pic would help - someone might have just done one recently and can ID it for you.

I already have a new one in my hand with that part number so I'm wondering whether it will work with the 4th gen 3S-GE engine!?

i've had problems with ordering thermostats from parts stores and not only have i had issues with incorrect parts but i've had issues of defective or 'weak' thermostats that open up too early or just simply stays open. with an oem thermostat, i notice the car warm up faster, heater fan blows hotter, and just performs better overall.

the only time i go to parts stores is to buy fluids, filters, spark plugs, and brake pads..

i would imagine, since it is basicly the same as a 3rd gen 3sgTe, (water pump wise) that one for a 3rd gen would work.
here, we use a landcruiser PT # 90916-03117
i cant say 100% it will work, since i've never personally done it, but that would be my guess.
PM batman722 i cant remember if he did his when they did theyre beams swap.

azian is right, get genuine thermostat and gasket, same applies to radiator cap. auto parts store stuff is junk, do it once, do it right.
