I have seen on a few motorcycle forums that i am on, that people can't just sign up to sell something. I was just wondering what other thoughts were on it? Other forums require u to be a member for so long or have a certain amount of posts. I am not saying anything is wrong with the way we have been doing it, but it may save someone from coming on just to sell some worthless junk then leaving.

I dont see the problem with someone coming on the site just to sell some "worthless junk" and then leaving. It's obviously not worthless if someone is willing to purchase it. If that person get's ripped off, then it's just the risk that they took. Buyer/Seller reputations along with the date the seller joined are clearly posted by each member's name. It is the buyer's choice weither or not they wish to buy from that person. I've gotten ripped off before too, CelicaGT04 sold me an AFM he told me was for a 3sgte but it wasn't, and then he said he would refund me some money, which he never did because he kept saying he was low on money. So it doesn't matter if you are a member for a little or a lot or even still continue to post. You can still rip people off and 6gc.net will not hold any responsibility for transactions gone sour. Here is an example as to how the buyer/seller system is flawed. I bought an item being told it was a certain item and was sent a completely different item worth half as much as I paid. I had already left CelicaGT04 positive feedback, and by the time I realized that it was the wrong part, I can not remove my positive feedback. It's there forever, and there's no way to get it removed.

i think the way our system works is fine, there are definitely some people who rip people off still but for the most part with internet transactions its always buyer beware anyways, i still feel more comfortable purchasing items here than on ebay but even then i'm wary of most sellers.

i cant remove the feedback, however, i would PM coomer and ask him if he can, i would think he could.

I PM'd Coomer when it all was happening. I never got a reply, nor was my positive feedback removed.

SlickRick I see your POV, but what if its a shop (like a toyota or aftermarket dealer) who sells parts?

maybe you could add/change "Enthusiast" to "parts dealer" or some who knows alot of info??

That's similiar to the way that Alltrac.net does it. People who sell more then 1 of the same item need to be registered as a Vendor and pay special fees to be able to sell their multiple products there.

the problem with requiring a certain number of posts is that will make people come on, post a bunch of random crap to make the min amount.. they post the junk to sell..

so that doesn't really work...

Everybody should be given a "rep bar." For everytime ur good or are helpful, other members give u a rep bar. Tally up like 50 bars and u should be allowed to sell. I dont think just anybody should be allowed to sell and i dont think "post numbers" will do any good cuz you can just reply with one word answers and get to the target.

Or maybe here is another idea. In order to selling something our Email has to be submitted and validated so at least maybe u could track someone down by there say... AOL email or something if they gave u the shaft, just a thought.

you can always make new emails...

It's useless information because even with using paypal and having their email address, you will STILL get ripped off. Remember notbok anyone? He ripped so many people off from many different sites and nobody has recieved compensation for anything. He got about $40 from me. Gosh now that I think about it, people from this site rip me off a lot...

Have you been ripped off recently? I was ripped off by clipsetuner a while back, but I partially blame myself. I sent him a money order for something that was moderatly under priced and he had no feedback on the new system.

Now everything is via paypal for me and i check their feedback before i consider a purchase etc.

I think the feedback system has worked out very well. Of course everyone has to take all the precautions they can to avoid a possible scam. (such as paypal instead of money orders etc.)

I don't see a problem in someone coming in and selling just 1 thing, but the potential losers are whoever buy from that newcomers..cause that's how scammers are, they come out of nowhere and voila, lose money.

However I'd like to see a number of post next to people's name, you know when somebody is a regular visitor and poster theres less chance of something happening if it's their first sale.

The rep system of course, is really great.

^ I actually agree with this, it's kind of buyer beware. I'm more comfortable buying from someone who's at least been on here a while, or is at least a regular poster. Feedback helps a lot too, of course, but not everyone who's legit might have feedback yet. Like I've got something for sale, well a feeler at least, and I'm not trying to rip anyone off, but I've only got like 2 feedbacks left for me so far. You just have to feel the situation out.

as far as im concerned anyone can come on here and try to sell me something. whether or not im sending them money....... thats to be researched with viewing posts, googling, and possibly asking around.
