Sorry, I looked - 6G Celicas Forums

I am not going to lie. You all know I don't know $#!t about doing things with cars, or should by now. Anyways, I ordered my shocks and my springs. Now that I moved back home, there are not any tools here. My roommates that I lived with had all kinds of tools and knew enough to help me get small things here and there done on my car. I was wondering if there is a source or way to find out how to install these things and with what tools I will need for my 95 gt. I thought I looked through all the threads, and if I missed one, I am sorry. I really would like to avoid having someone else do them, because I don't trust them.

For reals Lew? How far are you from Bakersfield, California 93307? Because I might be able to try and get a day off on the weekend, although the only days I get off are Mon & Tuesdays, though Tuesday I have school from 11-2. I did pick up a manual and I can see what tools are needed, though it just seems like crazy. LOL Seriously. I freaked out when my dad and I changed my brakes, because we had to pump it and at first it didn't come out right and we worked on it again and got it. My dad doesn't like to touch "Japanese" or "new" cars. I guess anyone could fix a really old vehicle, because I figured they were all the same.

hah come to texas and ill do it for ya!
i understand it difficult when it is your first time doing things. but, there is the HOW-TO section on here. only way to know how to is to LEARN! or have LEW come over to do it and watch it carefully. i know the first time i did my lowering springs and struts, i had help so let someone experienced do it! LOL
I say fly me out to Cali and I'll do it.

Oh score! I feel included haha. Well I know me and craig combined have practically every tool you could ever need to work on your car. I think Jeff's 5sfte set up was installed using most of our tools haha. Just arrange the date and time and we'll send the West Coast 6gc fix it team out laugh.gif .

laugh.gif You guys are crazy! LOL Seriously though, PM me if you can. I really would hate to screw this up, although I did check out my car and it seems basic enough, though I bet it just looks easy. I might make my whole car fall apart and die! LOL Okay, well you know, whatever. I drive my car to and from work each day, with only Mon and Tues off. I dunno, it seems funny having someone drive out here or driving there. See, with Lew it would make sense, because I want those darn projectors anyways and plan on ordering them in March. Plus I think he is maybe like an hour or so away from here.

It's simple... but difficult. Suspension bolts are a pain to break loose if they haven't been removed in awhile. But really, it's pretty straight forward. I don't remember if you needed a spring compressor though. I never had to put new springs on as I swapped to a full coilover system. Hmmm.. Oh well that's not a big deal, you can always rent one at your local autozone if needed. I'm free weekdays before 3pm and Sundays all day, I'm not sure about the Jeff's or Craig's schedules. Go to the SoCal meet!

I want to but I can't. I have to work. This new guy is not too well on focusing. We can't afford to lose him though. On the weekends, it is very important I am there at this time. Because this new guy cannot be left alone.

If you are lowering it on springs, you only need the spring compressor for the factory springs, but when you install the lowering springs you wont need them.

About the suspension bolts, thats what breaker bars are for. A breaker bar is a do it yourselfers best friend.
