Question though to you guys looking, I ask this to learn so if I'm ever in the same boat I know... wouldn't the actual mileage not be that important because you would just rebuild the engine anyway? I realize a rebuild is not an idea scenario, but were I to come across this engine at the right time for cheap enough (way the heck less than 1k for what he's selling), I'd wanna do a rebuild anyway I'd think.

Also, Dr. Tweak does wiring harnesses, so I'd think this would be something he could work up (but I guess he'd be the one to ask for that one).

The guy selling that motor made the mistake of jumping on a "deal" based on price. What he ended up with was a motor that was missing a lot of parts (like the wiring harness) that ended up making the swap too difficult for him to complete and now he is trying to cut his losses and just get rid of it.

You get what you pay for. If you try to buy the cheapest 3sgte you can possibly find, you'll probably end up parting it out, just like this guy is doing.

The ideal scenario is to find a CLIP in the best possible condition that you can. Then tear the motor down (not rebuild) to replace all of the gaskets and seals that wear out over the years.

The millage of these motors is total BS thats just made up to make you feel like your buying something thats almost brand new. What people fail to realize is that these motors are about 18yrs old now. All kinds of sensors, and gaskets will wear out due to age, not just miles driven.

I kinda figured that, I was just wondering... I should've specified that about a teardown to replace gaskets, sensors, etc. Wrong use of terminology, right idea though.

So basically the motor's not worth buying? I'm not considering buying it, I'm in no position to even mess with something like this, both financially and because of inexperience. But if I ever do get to a point where I want to delve into something like a swap (which I imagine myself doing, some day), I want to go into it well-informed. I don't even know if I'd do a 3sgte swap, but the same principals would apply regarless of the swap I was doing (unless it was for a stock engine or something, of course).
