abs light codes? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #56191 18 posts Started by tigersvain
my abs light has been on since i'v owned the car so today i figured i would see what was the problem, so i did some searching on here and found out how to check the code, well i did what they said TC and E1 and all that did was make my cruise control and airbag lights flashes repeatedly and my abs light stayed on constantly, then i decided to check my engine codes just for ****s and giggles and got a 25 code from that :S anyone know the proper way of check the abs codes? or am i just missing a step?

hrrrmm. That might be for US only, I'll have to check that out.

code 25 is for the 02 sensor, also for the E1 circuit open. Pull the EFI fuse, wait 30 seconds then reinstall it. The code should be gone.

my st205 swapandour Beams swap
kk i'll try that with the o2 sensor, i have a small exhaust leak around my flex pipe so thats probably whats setting that code off but as for the abs i'm still puzzled

If your ABS light stays steady when you jump the terminals the ABS ECU is probably bad....

Try resetting it and see what happens.
You can clear all codes by jumping Tc and E1 with the key on.
With it jumped press the brake pedal 8+ times in 3 seconds or less.

Or you can disconnect the battery [or just pull the fuse].
Physically removing power will completely reset the ECU and MIGHT solve the problem.

*Did you pull the short pin out of the diag box before you jumped the terminals? Its in the furthest corner from the "hinge" on the cover of the diag box.*
theres a pin u need to remove???? didnt know that :S hmm might have to try that tomorrow

Try putting a voltemeter accross the sensor loom in the wheel arch and determine which ABS sensor has failled, and then replace it!

ok i figured out what the codes are for but, there must be a reason for ALL of them to be on...faulty abs module? i'm gonna have to do some digging to get to the bottom of this one

Check the relay for the ABS ECU! Check all fittings and simply check the resistance accross the senders by removing the wheel, disconnecting the sensor loom and putting a voltage meter accross the terminals and get a second person to spin the disc. You should be able to read something, if not replace the sender!

Other than that like I said could be a realy, check all fuses. Also disconnect the battery for 5mins and then reconnect and test again for codes!

GL - and post your findings!!!!!
Bad wheel speed sensor is my guess
All 4 wheel speed sensors....

Is anything disconnected?

If you check the sensors with a multimeter, use AC volts, not DC.
You can also check resistance, it should be somewhere around 1 - 2 ohms.
i just find it odd that all 4 are reading and plus code 35 and 36 , i havent got a chance to take a look at it yet but eventually i will make my way to the garage

35 and 36 are just front speed sensor and rear speed sensor [either side]. The other 4 are for each of the individual sensors.
So all 6 are for your speed sensors.
oooooooooh lol so it is possible for all for speed sensors to be fried at the same time? :S thats crazy well i will take a peak at them this weekend and report my findings. thanks for all the advice

It's possible, but unlikely.
Something else is more likely the problem.

You might want to reset the ECU and see if these come back.
