Mine too. When it first starts it sits at 1600, but once it warms up it stays right at 1000.

"He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends.""Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn.""What?""Just do it."".......He said yes.""Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."".......Sweet. Thanks.""No problem."
you guys should check the vacuum lines running to your idle control valve - that's not normal. Not that it's a real problem - it will just eat more gas but I personally think the engine runs smoother at 1K then it does @ 750 - probably less wear from some theories I've seen. Any higher than that and you start working into the more wear catagory.

Mine idles at like 1100, I've been trying to figure this out too.
There is a thread with a decent how to on here about this - search for it and you should find everything you need to know.

What does this have to do with Forced Induction? This topic should be moved.
well thanks for pointing it out, hall monitor
it may (or may not) have something to do with age and there being carbon buildup on the valves and gunk in the intake and vacuum routing. My old engine had a lot of miles on it and idled high like that. The rebuilt clean one doesn't, idles around 695-780 once it's warm. It took some getting used to at first, I felt like something was wrong. Try some Seafoam.

i bled my friend's coolant lines and it seemed to have fixed his high rpm idle.. not sure exactly how that works but maybe has something to do with the cts.

Most likely either the ISC valve is bad/gunked up or you have a small vacuum leak [for those of you with the 5S/7A].
It's also possible the ignition timing is off, or a bunch of other small things.

If you really care, begin by checking the first two.

There's a reason for different forums instead of one big one.... smile.gif
