Well I got side swiped by someone and am still waiting for insurance money, but I decided to goto the junkyard today to see if I could find replacement parts.

First off the damage:


Here is what I found today at the junk yard:

No damage, just some scratches which will be worked out when its painted


Random bolts/screws/plastic things, can never have too many of those


A new Sirius antenna, way better than my old wax-stained one (old one on the right)


And finally the best find, some stock sides


The best part, all of it cost under $100. Since I am saving mega money by getting the parts for so cheap I think I am going to lower it again and clean the old exels off (pics in profile) and put them back on after everything gets painted. Thats gonna be about it for the Celica since I will be graduating from college in a year and will probably buy a different car. Until then, I will be helping my friend with this..

OMG you found some sides skirts. I hate you sooo much. Theres never any 6th gens at any junkyard up here. But theres a butt load of 7th gens.

Maybe you should get an exchange program going. There's tons of 6gc's in the junkyard here but have never once seen a 7th gen. Must be difficult for those guys to find parts cheap.

IDK how much they are - I'm pretty sure it would be around $100-$125 for the two skirts tho [Based on them wanting $75 for a 1/4 panel - I've never tried to purchase skirts before]. Shipping IDK either.
Your car is white tho right? I'll see if they have any in that color so maybe it would just be a bolt on. I have some OEM connectors too from when I bought too many before. I'll just give them to you [don't think it's anywhere near enough of them tho]

I'll try the website. I thought those would be from a pick and pull. Shoot I got a steering wheel plus air bag for $75. You know how much the 7th gen air bag assembly go for? Like 300 used.

I am going to another junkyard this saturday. The same business owns it so sideskirts would be just as cheap. Ill keep a look out for some skirts or any other common things that people need.

You find some skirts and let me know. I don't need the clips. unless you can get them for dirt cheap.

Question time . When you replace your entire door like that, what do you do about the VIN sticker that it located on the door? Can you order a new one from the dealer? I know it's not a big deal, but I was just curious what the proper way of going about that was.

Im going back in a few weeks, hopefully some of the yards will have new cars. I guess its just a waiting game for now.

I had to go to over 6 junkyards before I found one right front fender for my car.
most of them are totally pwned in the front, like all the other cars...

Just got off the phone with State Farm, the insurance of the lady who hit my car. They have denied that my car was in the accident because it is not mentioned in the police report and the driver denied hitting my car. My roomates car was hit too and the cops didn't deny his car so there was a police report written up. I requested that my name at least be put on the report somewhere and the cops refused. When I originally made my claim with State Farm they told me that the police report isn't looked at as much as the pictures or physical evidence from the accident, so I wasn't that worried. And of course they come back around and say the police report is the main deciding factor, they said the damage could have been from anything (the same thing the cops said). I doubt they looked at the pictures because I KNOW they would prove that my car was hit. I guess it is just a classic case of being screwed by the police and insurance companies.

All in all, its gonna take a bit longer to get the Celica looking good again

why not go with just a set of F/G fenders? can always glass over the vents or what not to give the OEM look

On ebay, there's some ST205 fender goin for like 170. They're in white and what seems as though in good condition....

There is a member on here that has an oem fender for $100 but I know I can find one cheaper at one of the junkyards around Baltimore. Since I am paying for everything myself I am trying to find the cheapest parts possible. Does anyone think suing State Farm would work? I have been thinking about it but it seems like the judge would just look at the accident report and rule against me even though I have pictures.

Don't give up just yet with the insurance people , Agents like twisting truths and stuff , they do all kinds of tricks to get the best for their customers. talk to your agent again , maybe even see one of those accident lawyers .... u were hit , u have evidence , i think if u try again u might get somewhere

Threaten to sue them - that will 9/10 cause them to do the right thing. And if it doesn't - then actually sue them. Most of those accident lawyers won't charge you if you don't receive a settlement.
