Ok so I need a new clutch because mine is starting to stutter when I take off and I figured while i'm in there replacing it may as well get a light weight flywheel too.

So here is my question. Will the parts from a second gen MR2 (I believe it was 1990-1999?) with a 5S-FE fit into the celica? Mine is the GT version so we had the same motors right? I know that not ALL MR2's came with the 2.2 but if a part is listed for an MR2 with a 2.2 (would have to be a 5S-FE) that should fit on the celica right? Keeping in mind the parts that I am referring to are botht the clutch and flywheel.

Also keep in mind if you're a DD or not. Because some clutches cause that extra pedal effort (if you decide to go for a performance clutch), also if you're a DD, an aluminum lightweight flywheel might not be the greatest choice, and i've heard some ppl--their flywheels even exploded.
So IMO, i would just make the oem flywheel lighter by sanding/grinding or w/e they do to make it lighter.
Also out of curiosity, why do you inquire about the MR2, have you found some for the MR2 that are cheaper than what you found for your st204?

Not saying that this is my choice but the listing is for an MR2 and not a celica. After I did some research I was pretty sure that it would fit on both. Also, when I look up parts on online stores such as importrp.com they have a differnt selection when you select MR2 vs celica.

Edit: For got to ask, what do you mean by "DD"?

Daily driver (and also using the car in city driving a lot).
I've got a centreforce dual-friction clutch, and it does me great. Provides the stock pedal effort too, and it grabs like crazy. I paid like 300 for it, which is a bit more than what you'll be paying for your clutch that u see on the ebay page. Just use ur bearing from ur oem clutch.
Also, i've never heard of Valeo--but hey that's just me.

Yeah thats what i'm worried about. I have however found a couple more parts on ebay that are listed for the MR2. I came across a chromoly flywheel that weight 11 lbs. My dad (use to race a VW bug and did 13 seconds in a 1/4 mile without a turbo) says that going that light is not worth it. He said the stock weight on his bug was 18 and he had it lightend to 14 which is what I am thinking of doing. I already have a machine shop lined up to have the flywheel lightend and balanced. I'm probably gonna go with an Exedy OE replacement clutch.

so what'd you get quoted for lightening/resurfacing the flywheel? I want to do the same and i'm getting ready to replace my clutch. I can't find a street-tuned flywheel anywhere. What'd you get quoted for install (not including flywheel)?
