so ive been looking around and cant settle on the turbo that would be best for my car. i have to replace or rebuild the ct26 in my car and dont know what way to go for one. i am not looking to make much power and want only 8-10psi of boost. anybody got any suggestions on what turbo would be best. i think right now im looking at turbonetics T3 or the hybrid T3/T4

hi
. what kind of power are you looking to make? if you are only planning on running 8-10psi the ct26 can handle that just fine. the t3/t4 turbo is a good choice that allows for improvement if you ever plan on turning up the boost past the efficiency of the ct26 turbo (which you probably will get the urge for later on).
it really depends on your power goal, and more importantly your wallet.
you can have the ct-26 just rebuilt for normally ~300-350$, or you can spend up to 2k+ on a turbo kit from a company like ATS racing or KO racing.

anyone know of a good place to have my ct26 rebuilt. turbonetics quoted me at 425 seems a little high. how hard is it to do yourself
Actually that sounds about right - between $350-$500 is good-normal. Anything more and you might as well get a CT-27 from ATS.
Pressure - When I get my CT-27 will I need to retune or will the ECU [as I'm thinking] base the timing and fuel maps based on the pressure it reads from the MAP?

Majesticturbo quoted me at $350. But instead of just a rebuild, I'd rather upgrade the turbo. Maybe something like what Manny has.

yes, you will need to adjust your fuel maps.

Sh*t. So 3S-GTE owners running stock ECU can't make use of this upgrade without getting at least a piggyback? SAFC-II should be sufficient tho right?

ohh, no, sorry, i was talking 5sfte terms. lol
the 3s uses the map sensor for fuel cut only. (it also feeds the stock boost gauge (in an mr2 or celica.)
no need for fuel tuning with the '27 on the 3s, although there are gains to be had with tuning.
