suspension and brake upgrade - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #57528 10 posts Started by 2bcelica
after some time of putting up with bad ride handling - i decided to replace and upgrade some parts to help the comfort.

Parts ordered -
1) EBC yellow brake pads -- $165
2) ATE PremiumOne rotors /fronts -- $85
3) Centric OEM quality Rotors / rears - $85
4) Control arms / Genuine Toyota -- $262.74
5) Energy Suspension / Sway Bar Bushings - front and rear - $45
6) Energy Suspension - Coil Spring cushions - $56
7) Stainless Steel Brake Lines / Magnum Performance - Ebay- Still waiting on shipment - $74
8) Royal Purple Synchromax tranny fluid and motor oil - $50
9) TRD Red Stitch steering wheel (already installed - will take picture later once everythings completed) - $650
10) Passenger side Ball Joint - $25 - Genuine Toyota
11) realignment - probably $60

Total so far -- $1495

So far only the control arms have been replaced. Took out the teins SS to clean and put on the cushions. Replaced inner axle boot on passengers side. Cleaned gunks from bottom of engine bay. The brakets for the bushings need to be modified to fit the bolt holes, so I'll finish modifying them tomorrow. Hopefully I'll finish installing everything else tomorrow if girlfriend doesn't come early. I plan on finishing tomorrow then get a realignment Friday. Here in Cleveland, OH most of the streets are horrible, so won't be lowering the celica any time soon, so I won't know how ride comfort will be with it lowered. After spending that much I better get some good results. Then once the brake lines come I'll have to work on it again.

Next would be GT4 conversion and repaint.

Oh - I also have some cusco front top mounts that I will be selling - so i'll post that in the FS section later.

I thought the EBC brake pads prevents brake dust...unless that's for Green Stuff only...what's the difference between Green and Yellow EBC brake pads?

Yellow is Ultra high friction pads for race use but perfectly safe for street use.

Red is Superstreet formula for cars above 200bhp and fastest street driving

Green is Premium street sport pad for cars up to 200bhp. General spirited street driving.

thanks - but because I use the celica for work and will be using it for lots of traveling - ride comfort was the priority on my list until I get a 2nd car. I know I could of ordered OEM quality stuff, but I just felt like spoiling myself for once

no sway bars?

I actually checked into that, but was already over budget. Eventually though --

Almost done with the install - would of been done already, but its been rainy and a bit cold - don't have an indoor garage -
Just ordered two new Yokohoma S Drive tires for the rear, so I should be done with everything Wednesday
