No Turbo for me at all.

thinking Stock Pistons now, 10.5:1
Stock Rods
Stock Crank (balanced and micropolished)
Simple Hone on Cylinder Walls (no boring)
Stock Rod/Main Bearings ...(open to suggestions)

Metal Head Gasket
Port/Polish Cyl-Head (not extreme)
Mild, if at all now; shaving of the cyl-head for more compression
Webcams

Ebay Header (Will prepare it as posted on prior forums)

New Aeroturbine Exhaust (tested and personal choice)
2.5" Piping

AFC NEO for A/F tuning after build.

Same Injen SRI

seems like with all that your replacing anyway, you should build a low boost turbo setup.

run like 8lbs, make 200whp, still be fuel friendly, and will make putting all that money into the car that much more satisfying.

Forgot the metal headgasket. You should think about the 3s rods, thats what I just bought from MR2OC. But you will have to turn down the crank a little to fit the rods. Well thats what I've been told.

x2 on turbo-ing your motor since you're rebuilding it anyway, and get yourself a mangaflow (is hi-flow) cat.
And what made you not want to bore out the motor no more? Other than the walls being too thin, but I thought .020 would be okay.

magnaflow hi-flow cat...just the cat? I still have to run custom from the cat back right? I was posting with another 6gc guy about boring the walls and he said he's done the bottom end many times and always sticks with just a hone on the cylinders. I want to be able to rev this engine up more often than not when it's built and I just don't want to risk the walls cracking or something.

Well, I want to get an A/F control to tune the cams a/f adjusments, I don't think I'll need fuel mani upgrades because I'm going to do something to the equivalent of a stage I cam setup. Besides, I'm not really interested in a stand alone ecu, I had one before on my turbo talon and it was expensive and I don't plan on going to the dyno more than once or twice. Why? This is just going to be a nice build with light machine work.

oh yea, I'm not building this car as a high comp killer...I am just doing slight machine work to increase the compression a little. I may not even deck the head at all. But I am interested in what you suggest for a build (no turbo, no heavy machine work).

Nah, you should go with a 2.25" or 2.5" custom catback exhaust.
Also, consider purchasing an AFC NEO to tune everything but this should be one of your last upgrades when you have all your other mods installed.
You send your cams to webcams yet?

No I haven't sent them in, I won't do the cams until I put on some good mileage. I will do the port/polish and possible deck though and get it ready for the cams. I think I'm just going to go with the same ebay header you did and prepare like you did too.

The AFC NEO, how accurate will that be?

2.25" custom catback exhaust. I really like Aeroturbine Perf. Mufflers though. I can just do the header, and then that custom catback setup to the Aeroturbine right?

i think if your just looking for a small increase, your wasting money on forged pistons ect.
if you NEED to rebuild your motor, buy the cheaper stock replacement stuff, and save your money.
buy a set of cams, SRI, header, 2.5" exhaust with a muffler of your choice,a SAFC to "tune" it, and call it a day

yea i was just checking out info on pistons...and I guess I was thinking the stock pistons were sufficient for this build...

For what you are talking about yes cause otherwise your not gonna feel much if any gains out of what you're doing. I think what Pressure was saying is you aren't really intending to do much to gain even a little power. Chances are the most gain you will feel is the motor rebuild with good compression, seals etc.
Perhaps you should plan to do a little more work and add the cams now? I don't understand why you would wait on them anyway seeing as how you'll have the motor open and now would be the best time to get it done.

Hmm...I think you are righ afterall about the cams, I was talking to my brother (he's got the gt-s (2001)) and was telling me the same thing. I might as well do it...I just was thinking about breaking in the engine first but I guess what difference does it make, right?

You really don't have to break into anything. All you do is pop the valve cover off and take the cams off from there. Its not like you have to pull the head and drop the oil pan to do piston work or anything. Oh you might as well change the timing belt while your at it.

I think you should send in your cams while you have your head out to be shaved and port/polished. This will be good since you have your motor all out and in the works causing downtime. Don't expect your cams to be sent back to you anytime soon if you don't call them and check-up, also, if you're gonna get ebay headers, make sure you switch to a hi-flow cat and probably a 2.25 or 2.5" piping because if not, then it's gonna be REALLY loud but sound like a fart-can. (Doesn't sound too good, it's what i'm running on right now and can't wait to switch). And yes, just have your piping welded up to your Aeroturbine muffler since you have to get everyting welded together anyway.
Also, with all the bolt-on mods, you won't feel much power gains, the biggest single mod power gain you'll receive ARE from the cams as a matter of fact.
The NEO has a lot of features and can tune a lot of things, and is the most latest AFC device (i believe.) But it's good for your setup because you're not doing turbo or anything AND if you ever decide to do a low boost setup, it'll be quite good for you too since it only goes up to 10psi tuning i believe...or was it 15...anyway for only 300, its' a pretty nifty device. Just make sure it'll be your last mod though.

We live in N.America - our highest grade is 93ron which is measured differently and is slightly higher than your Euro/Asian gas which is measured Pon [IIRC]. I believe our 93 is equivalent to your 95 - or something like that - don't quote me on any of those numbers but you get the idea

Well actually...

I did some research and RON is used in Europe and in N. America you use average rating between RON and MON. That is normally ~4 or 5 octanes less than European, when its the same. So your 93 is our 98.

Head Work: Focus on combustion chamber work (as I was informed) and what else for the porting/polishing?

I realize if I do shave the head down a little, I need cam gears?

Webcams (294 Grind) - Why did Jim Snoodgrass only do the Intake Cam 294 and leave the exhaust cam stock? Is that good?
I know I also have to get a spring kit for the webcam(s). Do I need to reshim the valves or anything?

The AFC...just plug and tune?

After the head work, will an Ebay header still be effective or shoud I just port my stock one and call it good?
