Compression test results - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #57762 6 posts Started by stephen_lee
As stated, i ran a compression test on my Daily. the red Celica.
  • She burnes oil
  • She boggs a bit at take off, but is fine anyother time gas is given
  • idles rough at 800, but fine at higher RPMs
  • bad gas milege

OK, So the results are:
  1. 145-130-155-210
  2. 150-140-150-160
  3. 150-140-155-160

Any feed back on the results?

I dont think those are very good numbers, mine I checked a couple months ago where:
190-191-190-192
run 1/2 can seafoam in the engine oil, 20 minutes at idle then change the oil. recheck compression.

did you crank the engine until the needle on the gauge wouldn't go up any further. it usually takes 2+ compression strokes or so for it to register completely.
i've already ran seafoam in the gas/oil and through the intake. and i cranked it until the needle stopped movin, then a few more. Engine was warm.

although i didn't do the 'add a few drops of oil to each cyl' thing

adding oil to each cylinder is called a wet compression test. what you want to look for with a wet comp. is comp. drop
