Why do you say it's to high an ISO?

looks grainy like when the iso is to high right?

Maybe it's this crappy screen but I can't really make out any noise.

There is a tiny bit if you really zoom in.... but nothing you can normally see. I would say the iso was perfect for the picture, lighting and situation.

Sometimes its better to get a little noise then to have a blurry picture.

plus, if its that big og a deal photoshop it out.

i used to do that, but now i kinda like the noise look, only if its a lower lit scene

i did NOT take this one, but talk about timing!!

i think CS3 has a reduction tool for stuff like that. 1600 iso with a pentax camera is as clear as day!

the like the grain in that pic, gives it that "old school" rustic look.

we should make a game outta this!

like... each week have "assignments" to get good waterscapes, or city scapes, and change it up each week to see all the cool area's of the world that everyone is from without us having to travel!

I love that picture, I think it looks excellent.

Oh and yes there's graininess, I'm on a high res monitor 'cause I get that kinda fancy shmancy stuff at work on account of my profession. woohoo. kindasad.gif

I think that is an EXCELLENT idea!!!! Totally excellent! We should do that! Maybe like give out assignments on Fridays and have them "due" on Fridays or something? That way lame-o stragglers don't mix up the postings and such.

Yeah I can see the noise now in that pic - it was just the monitor, my home computer is much better.

lets start this friday...how will we do this? one pic from each person. maybe we should go by a word: ex: water, sky, yellow, cold, old....etc

I see my picture sparked a lot of comments. Yes, you can see noise in the picture. When i took it, the setting on my camera was not ideal for the lighting as Art said. This picture was taken in London, and i did not notice this noise until i got it on my computer back home.

Even though its not perfect, i still really like it. The noise does not bother me too much because it seems to add a cool "old school" look as commented above. smile.gif

^ actually Snap, my comment was that your settings WERE ideal. You were shooting at night, hand held, with no flash. A higher ISO is a must in that situation. The noise actually works in favor of the pic (like you said) because the shot is in b/w and adds an old time look.

What camera are you using ?

this was taken at night, 15" exposure. i think its pretty

I like that idea of using a conceptual word - maybe not always, maybe one week can just be "tree" or something literal but still subject to interpretation.

So what's this week's assignment? And should we start a new thread for it so this one can stay just a share whatever you like thread?
Well if we're doing it this week, we don't have much time left tongue.gif...but it's a cool idea. We should probably have a separate thread for this though.
