GPS navigation questions.. - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #57902 7 posts Started by Rayme
I guess some people here have experience with those GPS navigation system (garmin, etc..) so I thought I'd ask.

Do they record your own path (If you go on un-charted territory?). So when you turn back, you can guided back to the path you took.

I'm planning a trip to Mt. Carleton (which is the highest peak in NB) and I want to get there by the mountain roads instead of the long boring highway, and stop alogn ways to do some sightseeing and BBQ. And I'd be very suprised any of those little roads are in the GPS units at all, they are not even on google maps. If I were by myself I wouldnt need a GPS but I'll have passenger I'll be liable for laugh.gif

What do you guys think?

Here's the trip (B) is the destination. When I reach MIRAMICHI I want to go through the forest instead of through the highway.

wholey crap, i bet its cold there kindasad.gif

Uh, I think it depends on the unit itself. You'll have to check with the manufacturer rather website, or usually the directions (and sometimes hardware itself) has a 1-800 NUM-BER on it...

mine doesn't.

for the most part, no. If its not on google maps or mapquest, then chances are the gps will be totally useless.

yes they can trace your paths

i KNOW the blackbird can - get one, use it, return it =)

the garmins im 98% sure cant and im 50/5 on the tom toms

the old blackbird i had was nice, just wasnt finished. the new ones im sure are MUCH better. alpine makes em. same software etc as the acura nav systems plus a shlt load more points of interest (businesses) than garmin and tom tom

you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!(2:27:32 AM) edit: please f*cking work, f*ck, sh*t, piss(2:28:08 AM) edit: that did the trick
I guess in this case, just get a GPS for location use only. As far as direction goes, paper map might be your bestest best friend.

it all depends on what GPS system you get, there are GPS systems made exactly for that. I know my tom to m doesn't do that. but I've seen others that do. so just ell them what you need it for and they'll give you one with that feature. the first GPS systems sold to the public did exactly that.
i have tried all of those ones in my styore and all you have to do is choose get there with out useing major highways and if that doesnt help take off shortest route possible. but to let you know it extends it by hours and hours but good luck and enjoy your trip it will be one fun trip
