oven cleaner (if you read the can) shouldnt be used on aluminum.
use a strong solvent, hell let it soak in a pan of old gasoline for a couple days. white gas, mineral spirits, etc.

PB Blaster.
Spray it on and let sit for several days.
It won't evaporate and will eat most of the crap away without damaging the metal at all.
http://caswellplating.com/powder/s_stripper.htmlthat is what i use at my powdercoating shop. it works wonders. one gallon will last for years to a hobbyist. just put it in a spray bottle. spray your substrate and cover it with saan wrap. come back to it in 20 minutes and rince it off with the hose. that's what i do to prep for powdercoating, professionally

i have noted some valve covers without the inside separator, why?
Does it have a function? Is it difficult to remove, will i mess up if i remove?

those "separators" are called oil baffles, and yes, they do serve a purpose. some valve covers have rivited oil baffles while some have bolts. the ones with bolts are easy to remove, but the rivited ones can not be removed without retapping the holes and using bolts afterwords. IF YOU HAVE RIVITED OIL BAFFLES, DO NOT SAND BLAST OR USE ANY TYPE OF SOLID CLEANING/ABRASIVE MEDIA WHATSOEVER!!! if even one little glass bead or piece of sand remains in the oil baffles, it could mean the end of your expensive motor.
if yo uhave rivited oil baffles (like the dirty valve cover ^^^) be sure to use only chemicals. the link to the stripper i gave in my last post works flawlessly and effortless. it's a little pricey, but well worth it, you may also want a soft metal wire brush to aid in cleaning it.
