send them certified mail requesting either a. your part, or b. your money back, state 30 day deadline or "further action"
dont threaten, if they return your mail, they never received notification of a problem
also try and research through online as much as you can about them
like if its a company, who incorporated it, who owns it etc, and each name you pop up try and get as much info about them

relatives
phone numbers
neighbors phone numbers
that way, if any of them try and screw you over, you can at least track them BEFORE they ditch all that available information
btw... how much were you out if you dont mind me asking
