Sunroof Won't Tilt? - 6G Celicas Forums

After a long winter, I went to use my sunroof and realized
that it won't tilt. It opens fine. Everything works great
except the tilt. Anyone had this problem?
My new, blue spark plug wires gave my Celica, roughly, 250 more horsepower..94 Celica GT89 Sentra Sport Coupe Project (the other haggard woman)

when u push the button wat happens???it could be ur switch is broken,i have the exact opposite,mine will tilt but not open frown.gif

I have to really push hard on the tilt button to get mine to go up

that might be because you have an st they don't all fully open. my 97 LE sunroof only tilted but my gt goes all the way open. do you have 2 switches to open your sunroof? if not then it's the type that only tilts (or vents) open.
as for your problem lexicon, i don't know what to tell ya.

I played with it more today. When you push the "up"
button, it goes through the motions but stays "down"..
However, you can jiggle it when it's in the "up" position
but tightens back down when you hit the down button.

I'm going to open it in a few minutes and examine
everything. Sounds like something isn't catching to me.

Probably stripped that gear but IDK.
I'm really just posting to warn you that getting to and working on the sunroof is a serious PITA. I'd almost rather pull the engine.

I'm going to toy with it. Hit it with a bat, jam a
shovel in there, throw stuff at it. If that doesn't
work, I'll hold off for better weather. So I can
at least get a tan or something if it's a big
project.

Man you guys STILL have bad weather? It's fcukin ROAST-ING here. You'd get 3rd degree burns before you got that sunroof fixed laugh.gif You couldn't pay me enough to live anywhere near those lakes [stayed in Chicago for 2 weeks once - worst weather I've ever experienced - penguins won't go near that place]

Weather was great for about two weeks. Now it's chillin' off again.
It's not horrible..but I'd rather it was 70 and sunny to do real work.
Dude, I'm all about moving to Texas. I've had it with winters here.

thats y i have a slide button wink.gif lol no i used to use it a lot so i know it works..i havent really looked into it that much...

Found it! After closer inspection, I dug a couple chunks out
from around the window. I searched for a photo of this
mechanism but can't find one. Anyone have a picture? I
need to see one before damage. Scope this -
