Shift Boot - 6G Celicas Forums
Just unscrew your shift knob and pop out your shifter panel. You pull the panel with the factory boot intact and look underneath the panel. You will see that there is a rectangle shaped wire around the base of the boot to hold it onto the panel. Pop that out and fit your aftermarket shift boot on there.

If it's got an elastic base to it then what you'll need to do is pull your OEM shift boot out and rip the seam out of the base. After that is done you should have the metal base out of it. Then cut the elastic base off your new boot and (GASP) sew it back together.
It's pretty easy to do. I picked up a Honda Accord shift boot from a junkyard and sewed the two together to make a short shift boot. Looked great.
