wire color behind stock radio - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #5820 11 posts Started by Cormudgen
hello,

i'm looking to find out if anyone knows what color the wires are in a stock harness for a rear speaker. i'm putting in a line level converter right behind the radio b/c i already have rca's run from there and need to keep them there for when i put in anohter aftermarket deck. from lookin at where an aftermarket harness plugs into the toyota one, the right rear ones seem to be a red and white wire but that just doesnt make to much sense to me and i want to verify before i start splicing into stuff.

thanks

I believe that the left side is black(+) and yellow(-), and the right side is red(+) and white(-). Be sure to test the wires before you hook anything up though. >wink.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
Do you have the factory amp system or not? The colors will be diferent if you do. If you dont use the colors that coomer said.

Couple things to check.
1. Remote wire, make sure you are turning on the amp not just giving it power.
2. The line level converter should have a adjustment on it somewhere, it may be turned down all the way.

Ok, i rechecked ALL the connections and made sure they were tapped into the right wires. Everythiging is ok. I also checked for an adjustment knob or off/on switch on the line level converter. There is no such thing. I am completley puzzled. For ****s and giggles I'm going to pull my sub out of my box and make sure the interior connections didnt come loose but that seems highly unlikely. I swear i'm just about to go buy another aftermarket head unit. Seems so much easier.

Lastly, on my line level convereter-I pulled it from my friends M3 that he had a profesional shop install it on. They had put caps on the wires that let you snap it in and out. I bought the female counterparts of those and that is what I spliced into the red/white faccotry wires behind my head unit. This line level converter also has 2 brown wires coming out of it that they had completly capped off and were not being used. I have heard those are only to be used if you are gettin line noise. What can you guys tell me about those?

i dont know about those extra wires but i think i was the one in the beginning who said just to get an new deck.

sorry i just like saying I TOLD YOU SO!!!! hehe j/k
finaly got this to work. i tried redoing MANY things all at once and then tested and worked so i'm not sure what i had done wrong. anyways it works and sounds great. i forgot how good it sounds to have the full spectrum of sound. subs are good for many more things than just rap >smile.gif>.
