Can i have some help please? - 6G Celicas Forums

Sorry if i sound stupid but i'm new to all of this, i would just like to know what the difference is when people mention 3SGTE, 7AFE, 5SFE, etc? its been bugging me but i've been a bit embarrased to ask and which one is mine?

those are the different types of engines in our cars. Theres also a 3sge. welcome to the site you've got much to learn young grasshopper wink.gif

Yeah i have got loads to learn thanks to people like you to help me on my way so how do i find out which one i've got?

I dont' know where newcastle is but i'm guessing you have a 5s if you're in the states or a 3sge if you're in the UK

you can also check under the hood for the answer

There's probably a newcastle in both the US and UK but my bet is with the UK judging by the "Upon Tyne" part so most likely one of the 2 versions of the 3S-GE that you guys got [but yet again we got screwed out of]

Sorry i'm from the uk i've just got the car a month ago because just passed my driving test and i wanted a gt4 but me being 24 years old the insurance was mad!

Well cheer up then - you already have approx. 25-50% more HP than us poor Americans wink.gif [Except people like me and many others who swapped out for 3S-GTE which is the Turbo 3S motor you wanted in your GT4 wink.gif ].
I believe this list is comprehensive and correct [feel free to correct me if I missed something]:

7A-FE - USDM/UKDM/ADM - 105HP 1.8L N/A
3S-GE - JDM/UKDM - 177HP 2.0L N/A
3S-GTE - JDM/UKDM/ADM - 250 +/-HP 2.0L Turbo
5S-FE - USDM/ADM - 135HP 2.2L N/A

I want to make it look like a gt4 and add a turbo but i cannot get the parts anywhere i want the spoiler extension blocks any ideas?

Ah - that's easy. Check the Buy/Sell section and if not there then ebay is your friend wink.gif

One more tip:
Be Patient. You will find these parts very cheap on the buy/sell section if you wait long enough.

Imagine what some of us with deep enough pockets to afford to swap could do with all that swap money if we started the project with 3S-GTE and AWD. kindasad.gif

On that subject [and since the original question has been answered] - once GT4's are legal to import and have gone through the legalization process in Canada next year - can us USAers buy them and import them legally from Canada [NAFTA FTW]?

I'm sure you could because i know many canadians (calgarians for that matter) that have imported a supra from the states up to here.

redtop beams 3sge w/vvti FTW 2.0l 200hp+
only available in JDM market but is able to be imported to other markets (except usdm frown.gif )
i believe there were a few with the 3sfe as well but i'm not quite sure.

Unfortunately I don't think it'll be that easy - you still have the DOT approvals/crash rating to consider. I think we'll have to relocate to Canada to take advantage of this. The best thing we'll get out of it is the legal importation to North America of GT4's I think which equals slightly easier availability of parts. I can hope tho. kindasad.gif
