Wire to nowhere, Please help! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #58734 17 posts Started by 115celi
I need some help figuring out where this wire goes. I recently removed my headliner because the adhesive was coming apart. When I took it off there was this wire hanging down.

the other end goes into the hatch and attaches to the defogger.

I looked around and there is nothing in the radius of the wire for it to plug into. I check the BGB on celicatech.com and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Mike.
Does your rear defogger work?

Translation:
Might you possibly have a button corresponding to your rear defrost? For on some ST models, the courtesy lights shall fail to operate or perform adequately. I'm uncertain, but perhaps they are simply for show, to amaze your friends and family with.

Awesome! Is this a language you know, GriffGirl, or did you use some kind of babelfish-like translator?

I though for a moment that it was Leet, but this translator couldn't make head nor tail of it.

Edit: And Monkey could be right, I suspect it is just a duplication of the defogger connection with a different plug/socket. Perhaps the rear window was broken at some point and replaced with an aftermarket item. Another possibility is that it could be a connection for a high-level brake light option (I think some of the 94-96 models didn't have the oval 3rd stoplight just above the Toyota badge?

It happens to be a language I have studied during my extensive years spent on earth. It is the culmination of being alive approximately ten years longer than what I'm hazarding is the average age on this board. laugh.gif

Edit:Can't you tell by the self-portrait? LOL!!!!

That is f*&%$#@ awesome! By the way, now that I've seen your portrait, don't expect any more PM's. I don't mean that in a bad way...

hahahahhaa but yes earlier models did have a 3rd brake light...
but the option i was talking about in perticular is that on some cars reer defoger is an option...
could be anything, even replaced window, or even came with two plugs, one usdm and one jdm... who knows, i dont, so thats my answer and whether it helps or not, im stickin to it! lmao

I am not sure, I haven't had to use it in so long, I store it in winter. there are three wires that are currently attached to the defogger on the hatch, two are white w/ black strip, one on each side(you can see the one on the pass. side and where it is grounded to the hatch), and the one I that don't know where should go.
The two white w/ black strips are connected to a clip which then runs up along the sides of the glass on a yellowish strip, you can kind of see the yellowish strip along the window, the black one goes right to the defogger on the window itself.
talk about wires that go nowhere laugh.gif
