Man, I went to maaco to get a quote on a paint job on a 4 piece body kit(not the whole car) and to remove a SLIGHT dent in my door he definatley quoted $1100!!! I luaghed and said thanks but no thanks. Id rather buy 30 cans of spray paint and a Ding King and call it a day. >
> Just a heads up, they wanted blood.
Never go Maaco - 6G Celicas Forums
They quoted me $1300 WITHOUT CLEAR COAT for the whole car.
LOL
Thats such crap!! How are they in business?

Stupid people exsist. Either that or like, people who steal cars go there, and get the $200 paint job so no one can track them or something.

Probably with crap paint and no clear though. Lets just put it this way: the best way to get your car painted? Have connections. Either that or a LOT of money.

i think it depends on what maaco you go to. a buddy of mine got his jetta painted there. complete color change and all door jambs and clearcoat was 750
Just for the record... the quality of a paint job usually comes down to the quality of the prep work... If a car is prepped properly, paint jobs done by those cheapo shops can turn out nice.
Maaco general doesn't prep a car very well, but I've heard of people prepping the car themselves and taking their car to Maaco with nice results.
Now if you're going to ask me how to prep a car or what needs to be prepped... then I'd recommend that you leave this up to a body shop that knows what they're doing. Otherwise, do some research on the subject or take an autobody class...

What Maaco actually does...well, they don't sand all the way down. What I've heard is that they sand the car lightly and put an "adhesive coat" on, then spray on paint.
DOWN WITH MAACO!!! >

Yep, we used to say about Maaco " If you want matching interior, just leave the windows down"
Seriously though, I know a lot of small/part time car dealers that do all the prep work and then take it to Maaco to get the paint sprayed. Which is not a bad deal if you are going to sell it soon.

That was a bit harsh. Personally, I'd bet any number you can think of that Ray doesn't work at McDonald's. >

Whoa, I don't know where you come from, but I come from the middle class. My last paintjob was $1200, and I almost had a heart attack while writing the check out for that.
