Topic #58833 21 posts Started by njccmd2002
i have a tan interiors celica,

but i have decided to change the color, i am starting with the carpet. I remember i read somewhere about somebody buying one. Can you please share your experience, and if it was to oem standards, like not missing anything necessary for instalation, but the most important is the

website....

I bought some "molded" to fit carpet from some company on ebay. It wasnt too bad. I had to cut to make it fit perfect. Im not sure of the site it was so long ago.
I havent gotten around to doing this yet, but this is the site that I was going to order from.Carpet
Add Mass Backing (+$60)

i went to the site, and WFT is that ^^^

I read it and its some kind of special rubber and stuff,

anybody else gotten to this?

i ordered a carpet for my first celi from jcwhitney.com cuz i was gonna do a yellow n black 2 tone interior... the molding was great but all the slots had 2 be cut and I had 2 trim the sides 2 get it to fit right... the end product was great tho wish i took some pix
i was thinking of adding a red carpet and leave the rest of the interior all black. that'd be hot.. kinda like the inside of a civic type r.

if it matches the exterior, guess it will be ok.

I want to go black, eventually leather in future.

I have black molded carpet chiling in my shed right now. The summer heat is the only reason its not done....maybe that and laziness lol. But it should be done soon.

does it look like the oem, meaning one single piece, padding all the plastics included, etc, etc.. nice

did you get the super plush, and the mass backing. Please post a pic whenver you can. Im seriously considering one.

for the mass backing question.... its just that funky looking stuff on the back of the OEM carpeting that gets really nasty if it gets wet... its used as a sound absorber to keep external noise away from the interior like the road and engine... also if you spill anything on the carpeting... its what holds the nasty smell in...

Breaking Axles...
I thought that the mass backing was made of rubber, how would it "hold" the smell in?
well maybe the company that you're dealing with uses a different type of mass backing... i'm just referring to the stock mass backing found in our cars...

Breaking Axles...
I wouldnt know whats on the back of the OEM stuff, have yet to pull it...waiting for leave time. I'll have to check it out.
^^^ from what i can tell, it does not come with the plastics that latch it onto the sides? kindasad.gif

its just carpet. what plastic you talking about? If you have aim hit me up at Lesterb08 it'll be easier to talk about what your doing
in this picture, enlarge it and look at the sides of the carpet. It has the trim that holds it in place ( plastic)

nah just carpet. it'll work fine though. Well we'll see soon enough lol
The worst part about installing the carpet was the louisiana heat and the fact that I have aftermarket seat brackets to put back in. Other than that the carpet cut easily w/ a razor blade and wasnt terrible to put in. Just trimming and cutting holes for seats and whatnot.

Sorry car is still messing 'cause I havent put the passenger side in and havent put my car back togther yet. My dash is still ripped apart from trying to find my brake light problem which is now fixed. So here is how it looks install though.

the plastic pieces came off easy and you can just restaple it to use it if you want.
