So i bought a black light BLITZ exhaust temp and i cant find anywhere that i can get a tap for it. ive gone to every autoparts store around, fastenal and hardware stores and the internet. supposedly its a M1 28G thread which makes no sense to me but i think thats what i need. if anyone has ideas please let me know.
Help finding a tap - 6G Celicas Forums
It makes no sense to me either and I work with taps everyday.
m1 = .03937 the major diameter which is tiny. The 28 should be a decimal and it is the number for the pitch.
do you have a link for the info on this?

JDM guy made me do it.
sorry i mistyped, its M10 so the diameter is bigger, not sure on the diameter in decimals and still confused on what it all means and where i can get one. no i dont have a link but its off the BLITZ blacklight exhaust temp gauge.
M10 x 1.25 pitch is .04921 = about 20 threads per inch Drill size for tap 11/32
M10 x 1.5 pitch is .05905 = about 17 threads per inch Drill size for tap letter R
M10 x .75 pitch is .02952 = about 34 threads per inch Drill size for tap 23/64 a tight fit but should work well.
Those are pretty much the common M10.
You should be able to go to a hardware store get the metric size bolt and compare
it. If you can't find all the metric ones compare standard bolts to see which threads
mesh the best. Hold the bolt against the fitting thread into thread and look for light and gaps
between them.
The .75 is the least common and finest thread, it would be my guess for a thin
wall application. A standard 10-32 us bolt thread should mesh fairly well with it.
It is a much smaller diameter than your metric but it is a quick way to check the threads.

Check out msc.com. They sell machine tools including taps. They should have a phone number or e-mail address on the site. If you can't find it there, you probably won't find it. Hope that helps.
