Brake lights - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #59212 15 posts Started by chucho
The bulbs are good. And I changed out the brake switch. Still I'm not getting the lights to come on when the brake is engaged. I'm gonna look through my hanes manual and see if anything is in it. But just wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Oh yeah, all the fuses in my engine bay and inside the car are good. Thanks

Dont deal with alot of elec. stuff, but maybe you have an open somewhere, maybe a short?
wires for my 3rd brake light are cut... so hopefully thats the problem. Just gotta find the other end whenever I have more day light. Probably wednesday

Not 3rd brake light light. It was another light for the trunk lid. Not the problem.

the reverse light switch on the top of the tranny is either bad, disconnected, or the connections need to be cleaned.

so the reverse light switch affects the brake lights?
I am so retarded.

I just re-read the post. I for some reason thought the reverse light weren't coming on, not the brake lights.
If your reverse light don't work, check that.

^^ that's me

The wires for the 3rd brake light are the problem.

haha its okay. I appreciate the help.
played w/ it more today. Its confusing the crap out of me. So it lights up whenever the headlights are on. But does not light up when the brake is applied. I switched out the brake switch and still nothing. Fuses are good. Looked under the dash and wires look all good, no breaks. I cant think of what the problem is.
its official. its a shortage. When I was trying to charge the car battery. My lights were pulsing and my power antena keep trying to go up. When I disconnected the power antenna it stopped pulsing and started charging correctly. Y cant it be something simple. Now I have to start tracing wires looking for breaks or bad grounds.
So, when you disconnect the power antenna the lights work fine? If thats the case (which is weird) then leave the stupid antenna disconnected.

no. it still doesnt. I have my car ripped apart right now trying to figure it out
is there a relay or a something that controls voltage for the brake lights somewhere in the car?
have you tested to see if you got 12v at light with brake depressed and if you have try a temp earth from somewhere
