Hey guys, i guess i need to change the timing belt so my bud can buy my car. Anyways, i was wondering how long it takes to change a timing belt, and if i can do it myslef. Or, does a shop have to do it? if so, how much is reasonable for a labour price? thanks for your help.
There is a DIY on the site somewhere...I think they said bout 5-18 hours. here
I would like to know reasonable labor prices too. My car is about 9k miles for my second timing belt change.

I think the book time for the job is about 4-5 hours, so depending on how much a shop charges an hour of labor, it could be anywhere from $300-450 for labor.

my mechanics buddy did the job for 220 (including belt). If you're not able to do it yourself you should ask a trusted mechanic to do it as a side job, it's a pretty common job.
Lets just say if u have access to an Air Compressor and a 600ft lb impact wrench you can get the job done pretty quick. Otherwise you be scratching your head wondering how to take off your Harmonic balancer.
impact helps ALOT. BUT i've done it w.o one. just used a screw driver and a really long breaker bar.
