97 LE rebuild progress - 6G Celicas Forums

okay,so,we got our hands on a 97 limited edition for $500!!! The interior and exterior is in MINT condition....except for the fact it was in a light front end collision...just needs head lights,bags and a hood at this point as I had extra fenders and a c-one style FRP bumper... Can't wait to sink my hands in this baby.

nice find, how did you get it, ive been interested in one.
Learned a lot in 10 years...I hardly log in anymore, last loginToday Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOLIf you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. I have a 00 GT-S 6-Speed,my 20 yr old bro has 2 97s 5-speeds,and my 15 yr old bro has a 94 5-speed...My GF drives a 01 GT and my Cousin has a 00 GT-S 6-speed.. it runs in the family. tongue.gif

The dude basically had it as a project car and then he inherited an antique Fiat convertible so he kinda gave up on the Celica and had 5 cars in his driveway so he decided to let it go dirt cheap. My buddy is gonna give me a call tomorrow to see how much a it will be to put a new clutch into it because it does engage high but other than that it runs nicely...gonna need some new pads too just from it sitting. My brother,my friend Nate and I busted out this car in about 4 hrs including some bodywork...sledge hammer and a chisel FTW tongue.gif I'll post a video after I toss the rest of the bolt-ons in.

BlkCelica95 is putting a new clutch into it as we speak...we still have to change over that damned HP racing header and magnaflow exhaust but we're gonna have to cut and weld ><

hopefully this car will see paint SOON.



And how did we get it up so fast? SHEER BOREDOM...my friends and I spent a solid day on it.

hmm... i've got a 97 limited and from what i can tell, mine has power everything, limited edition floormats, GT rims, the limited edition badges, shadow emblems, a limited edition sticker on the rearview mirror, hmm... that's all i can think of for now... anyone know if that's right or not? free feel to add or correct me. smile.gif

That Green they came in was limited i think. and they were all auto

I can take pics of the TRD shifter if you want...5-speed Manual all day long. tongue.gif

I think the other guy is right....the color,the badges,etc... no "power" or "performance" difference in the motor....I WISH!

a lot of fun. Good to see an old member still getting to tinker on celicas. Down the road I want to get a convertable celica! We'll see. I'll probably just get a supra w/ targa top.

Thanks! Got the car back from BlkCelica95 today...runs like a charm tongue.gif now I gotta put the damned dash back together,reset the airbag ecu and plug the bags back in.

Airbags in and reset...I painted the sideskirts,fender and front bumper. Check it out... $22 worth of paint/primer tongue.gif

Indeed it was man. I used liquid plastic epoxy to reshape the pass side where the clip area had broken and to fill in that small cut under the headlight. I really want to see pics of your car! I know we rushed thru it because we both only had a day but it should look sick like my 97 when you got it painted tongue.gif
