Topic #59487 20 posts Started by TJH4EVA
Im looking to build my own and i wanted to get an idea. so if you have a custom inclosure in you celica post it up
hey. well i have build a few myself none for my celi yet but ya. anyways you are better off going to youtube to look for pics and stuff but for all the ones i have built i make a skellton frame out of MDF and doll rod and or anything i need to make the shape i am looking for. once you have a frame built the hard part is over man! next i would take some grill cloth and cover the parts of the box that are not solid wood then your resen or how ever you spell it lol that will make it a hard suface to work with. then take your fiber glass and start coving it and make sure you off set each layer buy this i mean if you lay it down top to bottom the next layer needs to be left to right. make sure you have LOTS! ol layers i use 1/4 in 4foot by 60 foot rolls lol its nasty stuff hard to work with but i will lay down 3 layers of that ****! depending on your needs of course if your running a single 10 on 400 watts you dont need to go crazy lol after your last layer of glass is on get some body filler and fill in low spots or any place you want to look a little different and take some sand paper and sand it to be baby ass smooth! i mean smooth!!!!!!!!!!!! then your paint and another layer of paint and then a little more and BAM! sick ass custom built fiberglass sub box! best of luck man take lots and lots of pics i always to get to into it and forget.

I build my old one using that method (kinda) made a fiberglass copy of the driver side trunk panel (covered in plastic wrap and fiberglassed it) creating the base, then using doweling and 2 mdf rings for the sub mount point, wrapped in fleese and continued with lots of fiberglass.

but yeah thers a million pics on the next of this but probably not many 6th gen celicas (although there are a few)
Heres a quick pic of mine im working on..

Everyone removed their spare wheel? Is there anybody who made a plate above the spare wheel?
The spare wheel is a problem for me to install a subwoofer enclosure.. I need a little woofer or a flat floor.. smile.gif

My spare is still there but I drive a coupe so its feasible for me.

TJH4EVA, you ever do anything or still thinking about it?
Is there anyone with an other idea?
I couldn't find another topic about this..
Here is my custom box. I used the spare wheel hole and built it right into it. It aint perfected yet but i will hide the amp and capacitor soon.

o no i didnt... i came across some more problems so i have to get them done before i get back to the fiberglassing
I just took my back seats out. I can keep my spare tire in and still have trunk space. It just makes it kinda hard to drive more then one person.

I have to say that this looks great!
Are those 10's or 12's? I have two L7 12's in a box in the back of my car but it is huge and heavy!
Do those enclosures match the recommended air space requirements for the Solo Barics?
Thanks for the pics!

Those are 12s and yes its meets the minimum requirement for L7s. 1.0 cubic foot is really not that large at all. maybe the 12s are 1.3 i don't remember but it has enough air space.
