Kinda stupid question, I just bought a sub and amp off a friend. Its a single 12" Sony Xplod in a single carpeted box and a Sony amp attatched to it. What I was wondering is how to keep it from moving around while driving. Im pretty new to this so I have no idea, do I somehow bolt the box to the cardboard on top of the spare tire. Any thoughts? thanks

you can try some big strips of velcro on front and back that helps out. Or put a L bracket and screw into the box and into the car

i velcroed the carpet to my chassis via industrial grade velcro, my subs dont slide now.. ever.

edit: i velcroed my oem carpet to the chassis and jst laid the carpeted subs on top of that.

Can get a cable and hooks from a hardware store and cable it to the floor so its for sure nver coming out, can even add a pad lock to it if desired. I would kinda worry about velcro in a crash, you dont want that flying around but I have never tired velcro so i dont know how strong it holds.

I'm a big fan of L-Brackets and Self taping screws. But one thing to keep in mind with the 6gc, is that if you position it behind the rear seats in the trunk, DONT drill downward, the fuel tank is right there

No it's not. Scary enough it's directly under the rear seats [Then again in the event of a fuel tank explosion that thing could be mounted out on the back bumper and everybody in the car will be KFC anyway]. I had a major rear end collision in my last 6gc and the box broke but did not fly around. The 6x9 box behind my head however did and hit me and my headrest - wasn't fun.

Well, L bracket's also help keep your sh!t from getting gyanked too.

When you got 16 screws holding the box down, plus X amout more holding the amp; it'll take em awhile to get it out. Enough time atleast, for you to run out and "Regulate"

Yea but the problem is the ground of the trunk is not flat becaus of the spare tire and theres just the 4 corners of trunk that has room but the box is too big for any of the corners so.....? I duno.

K i used some velcro strips, it did the trick Started them up today, they are pretty strong, only thing is its kinda scratchy bass. Is there some kind of bass filter use to use to make a more cleaner sounding bass. thanks for any help\
It is a 12" Sony Xplod 1200Watt sub and an 800Watt Sony Xplod Amp. Im using an install kit from best buy.

scratchy or distorted. Depending on the type of bass you'll want depends on the frequency range your gonna set it at. And depends on the limitations of the sub. I say buy a Bass mechanic cd and they have frequency levels on their cd where you can adjust it by ear to play the frequencies you want.

Glad the velcro is working out for ya.

bass mechanic cd? how does that work exactly? so each song is a different frequency and when i hear one i like i set my sub/amp controls to those levels? somethin like that?

well, it could also be your subwoofer. personally i've never liked kicker that much, you could try tampering with the amp settings, but otherwise from that i dont think theres anything else u can do. unless ur picking up grounding noises, which i dont think is the case. lol

No. At the end of the bass tracks. They have different frequency ranges. Certian ones play just a set frequency and others go through them like scales. I have two different cd's and they work great for testing out how good the setup really is. The one sound show I went to I used it and won my class.

Who said anything about kicker. He has a sony setup.

See where it list Test tones. Thats where you can listen and adjust the frequency to hit where you want it.

It is possible to somehow push the spare tire into the trunk more? Like other cars where it doesnt stick out of the ground in the trunk? I have to leave one of my back seats down or else the sub wouldnt fit? any thoughts?
