Topic #59558 54 posts Started by presure2
im doing this here so as not to single anyone out, so i dont wanna hear anyone complain.

>>the post whoring needs to STOP. >>

the ones who are doing it know who you are.

if it dont stop, we will start warning and banning people if thats what it takes.

think of this as a "friendly warning".

post whoring? sorry i dont know what that means
basically people are just posting random posts in peoples threads that has nothing to do with the thread or very little to do with it. it can be very annoying and doesn't help anyone. they are just wanting to build their post count.

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)
post whoring is to post on message boards for the sake of posting, to post useless things to raise your post count. To quote coomers examples "Im with stupid" or "Page 2 owned". As well as a just smiley post.

it basicly means posting just for the sake of posting, without any rhyme or reason about it.
cluttering up threads started by people with legitimate problems, or things to disscuss, with usless banter that is not on topic or helpfull in anyway.

What does raising your post count do? Not being rude, I am just curious is there a benefit to have more post than others.

Thanks
raising your post counts mean you get more blue bars under your avatar.

there pressure ya happy?

Some forums allow you to access certain threads only if u have the required amount of posts. I am in an MMA forum and if you want to sell something you must have at least 50 posts. and you must have 20 post to play the games they have haha. but on 6gc.net post counts doesnt mean much

The problem is people making dozens and dozens of useless posts every day, and pointless chatter, and never contributing anything useful to anyone.
This drives away members from here that actually contribute and help people, and reduces the site's credibility.

There's no problem posting a lot, as long it's a useful contribution and don't just post any old crap just for the sake of it.

-LukeMy Flickr
the main post whoring that i think is in the off topic section but wats the problem with that,ITS OFF TOPIC???its the off topic no one ever askes questions, all the other areas ie exterior, general and watnot, all of those topic questions are answered to the best of everyones knowledge.

BANNED. for life, you moron.

>Welcome to the Off Topic forum! Please read this post completely before posting in the off topic forum. Some basic rules must be followed in order for this forum to not get out of control. These rules are the same as the rules for the rest of the forums, but let me reiterate them below:

1. Try to keep your posts clean. These forums, like the rest of the site, are designed to be a family-safe environment, and that means that you must watch your use of obscenities. This also means not attacking others in your posts. Try to be friendly, especially to newbies, and treat others how you want to be treated.

2. Don't post pornography, spam, racist material, or anything illegal. These things will not be tolerated, and will get you banned from the forums.

3. For sale posts are not allowed in this forum. If you want to sell something not related to the sixth generation Celica, you will need to do it elsewhere, and not on this site.

4. Please refrain from posting pointless posts, such as posts that are just smilies or posts that say stuff like "I'm with stupid" or "Page 2 Owned!"). This includes sarcastic posts about making fun of someone's car, or playful arguing with one another in a thread. These posts simply take over threads and turn them into useless garbage.

Thanks,
Christian Coomer

Note number 4 in particular.

That's how the site is run. Off-Topic just means non 6GC related. NOT post junk.

Stop whining thanks biggrin.gif

There are dozens of your stupid posts that have been deleted. I have deleted the same 'woo hash' post about 5 times, do you think we have nothing better to do?

It seems shogun is always at the helm of almost all 6gc.nets fights, dont insult manphibian(luke) he is a hell of a moderator, moderation im sure is not easy to make choices of wat threads to close and which to clean.Yea i do agree that close was a little premature but it ws gonna end up with someone saying somthing mean to another person..Shogun no one is holding a gun to ur head and tell you to stay on this site...i think u need to just cool down..i want manny in on this...

i think YOU just need to cool down..No one is holding a gun to your head and tell YOU to stay on this site. Right? rolleyes.gif

Guys, this is not a pissing contest of he did, she did, he posted this that etc. The fact is that we have seen an influx of useless postings here recently. You may not see all of them because we're doing our best to delete them. That said, we're simply asking you to think before you post and ask yourself this question: Will my post contribute positively to this thread and be useful information to whomever reading?

Its really that simple. Now please think about this maturely and move on.

Past: V6 Swapped 6G Celica, E46 BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler TJCurrent: 850rwhp C6 Corvette Grandsport, Gen1 6.2L Ford Raptor
3 mods so far have posted in here...I'd take thier advice and not post useless stuff in the threads.

"A true car enthusiast can see the potential in any car"QUOTE (njccmd2002 @ Oct 3, 2008 - 2:01 PM)i rather be a slow turtle in risk of extinction, than a fast locust, that you can see everywhere and need to be terminated.
I dont know where I would be without my 5 years of post wh*ring here!

:-)

Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City
I've been a member here for 3 years. Ill tell you from experience that as you stay with this site, and thumb through threads and try and learn/gain knowledge, and in doing so have to attempt to filter out 4 pages of "wicked sick" or whatever other clutter occurs, it does get rather agrrivating. Grant it, its a free country and a public site, but I know I have personally complained the last 3 to 4 weeks about the increase in random posts that have occured in both, OT, and other forums.

its just more annoying then anything else.

I'll admit, i deff have a hand in this, but in my defense, I do alot of positive posting. Even if it's explaining how F/S sections work to newer members, It's generally helpful none the less.
And other times, it is pretty useless garbage. I'll take my "Warning" in stride and take steps to fix this.

"Woo-Hash" comment originated from me, It wasn't intended to catch on as the next biggest catch phrase like "Tight" or "Whats-up" ect. I do apologize for that.
Although, i'm not on anyone's side, I'm on the side of 6gc.net & Myself wink.gif . HOWEVER:

Agreed.

That's why i'm apologizing for what negative things i've contributed. (Woo-Hash rolleyes.gif ) It was not meant to become a new catch-phrase frown.gif

You have a problem with a Mod; Take it to another mod, or Coomer. Explain your case, and that is ALL THAT YOU CAN DO.
Starting arguments in threads is pointless and achieves nothing. Especially when you're arguing Mod's.
TRUST ME I WOULD KNOW!! (I think pressure would agree with me on that laugh.gif BTW No hard feelings? frown.gif )

Lets just all take a chill... N/M (i dont want that one catching on rolleyes.gif )

Lets all just chill and get back to what matters most. The 6th Gen Celica. We' all have alot to learn from each other, So lets not ruin it this way. (Besides, this is a website, Why is everyone so worked up about the Intra-webs? confused.gif )

Sorry, but that's kinda sucky. By that argument, the entire Off Topic section violates the rule. The thread above was in the right section, and from what I saw, each and every post was made to contribute to the original intent of the thread, without any useless or superfluous "tight" "sweet" "Yo JDM blah blah blah" comments in between. I understand your point, but I think you jumped the gun in that case. Just my opinion.
