i just sold my mustang, and i have some money to spend. im looking to get a new head unit, and some speakers all around. right now i have the stock speakers, tweeters, and some random cd player.

i want to get some great quality speakers. that fit in the stock holes. (6.5's i believe) also, what is a good head unit? i don't want to get an amp or subs.
living in houston if i have subs and amp it would be gone in a week... i appreciate the help.

also, should i replace tweeters? or should i get speakers with tweeters?

i've always loved pioneer headunits... as for speakers, yeah i'd go for component.

Ya alpine is great. I have this one( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3NPMZDxtRpk/A...;s=0&cc=01) with the ipod connection and it is a lot better and louder. With this and some speaker you will be happy.

Alpine is the way to go. I've got the 9885 and its great. as far as speakers go, components are the way to go. For speakers you're going to have to test them yourself because everyone has a different taste in sound. I personally like the alpine type r's but a lot of people like boston and infinity. To get the full effect of component speakers you will need to buy an amp to power them. It makes a world of a difference.

As far as my headunit goes, I have an Alpine CDE-9870. Bought it because I don't want the big features like the fancy display, dual RCA output, etc. I love this radio because it makes my speakers sound great (Infinity 6.5" References in the front, stock tweeters), and I can use the iPod cable to listen to all of my music (cable is run underneath all my paneling from the radio to the glovebox), and control everything from the radio. The big plus is that it matches all of the factory color scheme perfectly at night.

I'm sure you could find some on Ebay new for around $100. I'd recommend the Infinity's in the front and JBL's in the back as far as speakers go. I plan on going with the JBL GTO627 speakers so I can have some speakers in the rear.

You need to really give us what you want to hear out of it. If you prefer a lot of highs and not too much mid then I'd say infintiy. Polk gives more midrange w/ a solid sound range. What type of music you listen to? that'll help you figure out what brand to go w/

Im with chucho, you gotta give us what youre looking for, pure SQ or appearance or abit of both. More importantly the price range that ur willing to pay.

You can always bolt your subwoofer box to the frame if u really wanted to get subs,its an just an option

personally i would go with alpine all around. i would also get them off ebay (if you trust ebay) i just bought some new speakers for my truck (alpine type S) front and rear for only $100 or so shipped. normally it would have been around $160-200. i currently have a pioneer deck which is pretty nice but would like to eventually get a alpine deck as well.
i would get components then eventually swap out the tweeters too but that's just me.

looked at some polks last night. they sounded great compared to whats in there now. this was at circuit city btw. never heard of components tho. my boss is giving me his alpine deck tho. i think its a 7 series.

what about tweeters tho? tweeters seperately? or combined with the speaker?
i'd rather stick with one brand front and back. i have enough money. i just really don't want any subs yet tho. maybe if i get transferred out of houston for mercedes ill get some then.
