hey guys. im repainting my aftermarket rims and they got a bunch of those lead counter weights on the inside. should i remove them and rebalance after, or just paint over them?
them lead counter weights used in wheel-balancing - 6G Celicas Forums
i thnk u can just paint over them and not have any issues.
edit: i guess technically the right way would be to remove them then have them rebalanced but it wont change anthing if u just paint over them. just save u some $$

i think the best bet would be to remove them and get them rebalanced...
painting over them isnt gonna change anything but it makes for more of an issue if anything needs to be changed.
And also i'd say painting over them is gonna give more chance for chipping or cracking in that area, i think?
over all its up to you, but if it was me doing it i'd remove them.

Take them off and get the wheel rebalanced once it's painted.
-Painted weights will look stupid IMO
-It will be harder to get the weights off when the wheels do get rebalanced, you don't want to piss of the guy fixing your car
-When the wheels are rebalanced you will have unpainted spots where the old weights were

If you're taking the tires off they need to be rebalanced afterwards anyway.

to be honest, i have no idea what i'm talking about, i've never done this... but just pry them off?
carefully of course. and then use an adhesive remover to get whatever was holding them on off.

heat and pry carefully then use like goo-gone to take off the adhesive......
I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
