i was going to vote for Hillery. We need the Clintons back, but with the choices i dont care who the Democrat is as long as he is that. a Democrat. I normally dont feel that way and always vote for the person that i feel is the best choice. But after Bush the Republican party needs to just tuck tale and run away for a while.
legit, i have no idea how or why cold water is absorbed faster by the body... all i know is that it is.
our trainer doesnt let us touch any warm water at practices or games! I asked him y one day and he explained it all, but i dont remember it.
and i can say the same to you about what you read on the internet... I've been an athlete all my life. Played soccer all through high school and college, ran track in highschool, ran a couple 5k/10k fun runs, never once have been given WARM water or heard a trainer or coach say anything about warm water being better for you then cold water as an athlete..

I never said anything about what to give a baby, i agree and know you give a baby warm milk. i was simply making a counter point to what you said about ask any runner. I just asked my friend who runs cross country and long distance, he drinks warm water when hes warming up because it will stay in your body longer, but any time during his run he drinks cold water to keep himself cooler. When his run is over he drinks a warm gatorade and a ice cold bottle of water(which to me seems kinda counter productive cause they are just gonna mix and so forth but w/e floats his boat).

i wasnt trying to start an argument, just telling you what i've been told as an athlete, as for the interwebs link, just a link to a nutrition site ran by the university of Missouri/Kansas or something, i didnt say i believed what it said, just simply that it explained more about it...

He drinks warm gatorade because it has more essential nutrients which gets absorbed faster because it is warm. he drinks the cold water to refresh himself.

Cold water requires more engergy to convert into useable energy, when you use more energy your body heats up, drink cold water is counter productive. while refreshing yes, it is actually make your body burn more energy. If you dont believe in something you probablly shouldnt use it as evidence for your point

This got started because Mccain said giving hot water to dehydrated babies, i was trying to eleborate for people who dont understand the science behind that. call up your advice nurse and tell her you are dehydrated and ask her if you should drink ice cold water or warm water, see what she says. i was explaining why deyhydrated babies should be drinking warm water. You countered with something that doesnt make sense(i.e. cold water is absorbed faster) i was just trying to eleborate the science behind why that doesnt make any sense.

You your self said that you you have no idea why this works... so why are you trying to debate something you dont know about?

The calories required to raise the temperature of cold water to that of warm water is negligible. On top of that, cooler water is absorbed by the stomach faster than warm water, decreasing dehydration faster.

/debate.

Stay on target...

no, i stated i had no idea why cold water is absorbed faster then warm... i never said i didnt know anything about osmoregulation or osmosis... I am quite scientific and please dont twist what i said.

Actually he drinks the warm gatorade because the nutrients will stay in his body longer and more will be absorbed over more time... and he drinks cold water to refresh himself and help cool him down.
it was actually a funny conversation cause he had no idea why i was asking him these things...

again, i say, i agree that you give babies warm milk. I was not disputing that fact, i was simply stating what i know against, "ask any runner and they will tell you that they will drink warm water when competing (s/p?)".

do you actually know how the body creates energy? Cause water is never converted to energy. Water contains nothing the HUMAN body uses to make energy.

and sorry supersptynt =/ lock on acquired!

I can't believe we are actually trying to debate this...

Read this...

The word HOT wasn't in his written speech. It was originally written as "bottled water for dehydrated babies".
The guy misspoke and added the word HOT in there for some reason or other.

Babies normally drink/eat things at around room temperature. Giving them HOT WATER to drink would be a bad idea.

omg some people are idiots! (not saying you guys)

Seriously people, everyone makes stupid speech mistakes, especially when you are talking infront of the world.

He never once said he ONLY stayed in the USA, so technically he could have went all over the usa (and mexico/canada) and it would be possible to goto 57 states.

Secondly his math is right if you do his math starting with 47 instead of 57.

47 visited states + hawaii + alaska = 49 states. (hawaii and alaska is not allowing him to go)

49 + one more state he has to go to?

>I thought about Canada, but it just seemed mean. They're still their own country at least. And as long as they don't have any oil, they'll evade the long penis arm of the US government.

Technically, every nation is a state. In fact, the term is nation-state. And then there are the sub-units, which make up countries such as the United States of Mexico (wonder how many people realise that's the actual name of that country).

On the oil issue...um....you mean no oil aside from the Alberta oil sands or the east coast oil platforms, which between them make Canada one of the largest importers of oil to the U.S. and are a major factor in the rise of the Canadian currency against the American dollar (aside from the fact that your government is spending so wildly it has to keep raising its maximum allowable total debt limit while we're paying our debt down).

Oddly, came across a nice clip of a Republican governor who's campaigning for McCain, who was asked to give examples of how McCain's approach to the economy is different from Bush as his campaign keeps claiming. The response, after much hemming and hawing: "I'm drawing a blank." Let's reiterate, this is someone who's been given all the scripting available to campaign for McCain.

Socially, Obama's much more in line with Canadian values, but just to note, his views on trade and protectionism like most Democrats are likely to negatively impact Canada's economy, which is reliant (though not as much as it once was) on exports to the U.S.
i came to the same conclusion as Hanyo, 47 + 2 + 1 missing = 50. maybe its a bay area thing. HAHA sike.
Not to keep fueling the fire here... but I was watching on fox news about how Obama went to Germany and Spoke to somewhere around 200,000+ people there. Pretty impressive.

Then to make their news coverage "fair and balanced" (cough) , they quickly started talking about what McCain did with his day. They said he went to a local German restaurant in Ohio, and showed him sitting at a table and talking to 3guys...lol.

I thought the contrast there was kind of funny.
