FS: HIDs kits (previously a GB) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #60788 286 posts Started by GriffGirl
It appears there's no electricity in and around Houston due to Hurricane Ike, so I'm gonna push this 'till next Monday (the 22nd) so people can send payment. Hopefully power will be restored by then. So bump! if anyone else wants to get in on this GB.

Those of you who haven't paid yet, please do so so once the Houston guys are in, we can proceed. Thanks!

This has been resolved. Please keep further posts that don't have to do with me and/or aren't directly related to this or any other GB I hold out of the thread so it doesn't get cluttered. Thanks! biggrin.gif

I'm just thinking ahead and ordering spare bulbs plus I hate the blue color of the ones I already have [personal preference - they look/work great if you like the blue] so my spares will be the ones that are in it ATM.
I don't believe the bulbs will work with the regular wiring at all but IDK. The ballasts just look to be large capacitor/transformer type but electricals aren't my bag so...

bulbs only are $45; no, they wouldn't work w/out the ballasts though, sorry kindasad.gif
I have heard these are illegal in cali without having projectors to point them at the ground. Supposedly because of the stock housing the light will blind people at night , and you supposedly need projectors because they are aimed at the ground. Any truth to this because i would hate to get behind a cop if i had a set i already seen a buddy get a ticket for it.
Yes!

As far as the legality in Cali - if your headlights are aimed properly, it really shouldn't be an issue. IDK if technically they are legal or not, but plenty of people in Cali have them, that's for sure.
Okay, I've gotten further clarification as to the legality of HIDs:

>
QUOTE
>They are illegal on most states, it basically comes down to " if your car didn't come with them from factory they are illegal" except those that have HIDs as an option and even those would have to change the headlamp housing for HIDs, as halogen lamps and HIDs are different as well.

So basically it's install at your own risk... I haven't had any real issues w/mine. I got stopped in Cali at like 3 am in the redwoods, but my headlights weren't aimed properly (my d/s was kinda whacked out). The cop asked me if they were stock and I told him they weren't, and he was just like "wow, those are really bright, get those aimed." No biggie.
Final order for this GB:

4. (buffalohunter7321 - celicatech) Bulb 9004, color 10000k, Dayton, OH (PAID)

Here's the update: order went in on the 6th. I'm guessing I should receive product some time between the 24th and the 31st. I will post another update as soon as I have more info. Thank you to everyone for your patience with the unforeseen delay what with Hurricane Ike and all, and of course thanks to Culp for extending me the courtesy of accepting an order below the minimum this time around. biggrin.gif
