Keyless Conversion??? - 6G Celicas Forums

OK so my Driver's side door lock seems to be pretty much fubar'ed. It is electric locks, but the problem is that the lock is mangled on the inside and the key will no longer turn it to unlock it...
I know, annoying. Every time I want to get into the car I have to walk around to the passsenger's side to unlock the doors with the key, and then walk back over to the driver's side. This is getting to be a huge pain in the ass, not to mention I look like a retard!

I was wondering if there is a keyless entry for these cars I could use (preferably OEM, or a good aftermarket alarm) to just bypass the use of the key altogether. The doorlock itself still works electronically, just the damn key hole is f'ed.

Did these ever come with an OEM stock keyless entry/alarm system? I know my 5th gen Celica had a Clifford alarm system installed factory, but this one doesn't have one.
Anyone have any ideas? Cheaper is better...unless it does something more than just lock my car!
i use the toad alarm it uses the eamote to unlock and lock never use my key to get in and out smile.gif
would i be able to install that on a car that never had a factory alarm?
also, how much does it cost and where could i pick one up?
you pick one up at your local auto accerories store or auto zone for a cheapy, and you could do it by yourself it your confortable with wiring and have the patients
DEI 520T. Google it, it's what will do the trick. Wire it to any alarm system, factory or not. smile.gif
Considered replacing the door lock cylinder? I'm not certain, but you should be able to get one set to work with your existing key.
thanks for all the suggestions dudes.
I had considered replacing the cylinder, but someone told me that I wouldn't be able to use my existing key.
So if I wanted to use the same key for everything, I would also have to replace trunk, passenger door, and ignition, which would be pricey.
is this true?

the dealer should be able to get a cylinder cut to fit your key using the vin number or key but it may cost a LOT.
Yea you're right...never thought of that.
Has anyone tried the Bulldog ICD-605 alarm???
Supposedly fits 6gen Celicas nicely...
