3SGTE Tuner - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #60991 16 posts Started by celica_122
Does anyone know a shop located in the U.S. that builds 3sgte engines? And does good work? I have already purchased a lot of parts for the engine including cams, pistons, rods, and upgraded turbo etc. I'm a decent engine builder but I am new to the 3sgte world and frankly I'm a little scared to do it myself. if it was a muscle car... maybe. I also do not have the engine yet.. but I have a buyer for my mustang lined up to buy the engine and final parts I need. Just need the info for future reference. Thanks!
I know ATS is a pretty big 3S-GTE shop with the MR2's and AllTracs.
Who is ATS and where are they located? Do they have a website? I love my car and want to do my research before I just hand over my engine.
boone eh? I dont know anyone in north carolina that i would trust with a 3sgte. everyone here is either into hondas (in particular) or nissan.

Chris K. is a builder here of high HP 3S-GTE strokers and he has absolutely zero compromise for his work. You could not pay him enough to do anything but exactly the highest quality parts/labor. I have never, ever heard of any bad things about any of his motors. His shop is called Engine Logics and it [Like ATS] is located here in Texas - Houston/Sugar Land area as opposed to ATS which is in DFW/Denton area.
Here is his website:

Last I heard he was pretty pissed at the MR2 world for whatever reason so make sure you tell him it's for a Celica and that Matt from town sent you - I'm pretty sure I'm the only local 3S Celica who's bought parts from him and he got extremely cooperative when he found out it wasn't going in a MR2. I wonder what turned him off to the MR2 scene so bad?

research chrisk on mr2oc.
there have a few shall we say, "less than desireable results" out a few of his builds.

MCS (mtbuggies.com) or ATS would get my motor were i building one.

I've done a lot of deliberating and have decided that this is the route we'll be going with ours when the time comes.

I should have known something like that was up - I'll look it up. I retract my suggestion but I will say he was very helpful and cooperative with my build [even tho I didn't use him and opted to build myself with a friend]. He really seemed receptive to the GT2 idea.
ATS has a great reputation aside from one incident with a female MR2 owner I know [Some of which I think might have been related to her poor budget]. I guess I'd have to say they seem to be the place to go.

Any more ideas? Are these the only good tuners in the U.S.?
^sign up to mr2oc.com and start reading. There are a lot of shops you can go with, but the entire 3sgte tuning/rebuilding scene happens at mr2oc.

MCS built my short block.
had a mix up but they fixed everything. good customer support if anything.

I am thinking real hard about doing it myself. It will take a little longer. But the work would be more appreciated. Thanks for all your guys' help. Besides, thanks to you guys i found some good parts sources. smile.gif

I'd have to agree - I learned so much by rebuilding my own and I have absolutely zero regrets about the process. It's really alot easier than it may seem before you take on the task. Just be sure to not skimp on OEM or better parts and torque everything to spec with the appropriate tool.
Good luck.
