So i was on my local racing forums..tamparacing.com and found this. www.joedono.info it has been linked to about ever car website there is. So in recape this kid went to japimprots (i think) a very respected tuner/audio/ anything shop. At first he was just having them do a simple paint job which turned into about $16,000 worth of mods. Yes you read it right $16,000. So the kid comes to pick it up a couple months later and does not want to pay..and the funny part is his 16 year old gf puts a $60.0 down payment on it lol. The shop made one mistake which was not having him sign a work order. So know the police and courts are involved. He doesnt even own the car his mom leased it for 17,000 and its about to be repoed. He has a history of scamming people and buisness and has a nice arrest record.Trust me the link is like 20 pages long but i couldnt stop reading it. You guys and gals should check it out if your bored. What a d bag. Sorry if grammer/spelling is bad im falling asleap.

Okay, that really sucks for the guy who did all the work, but WHY would he agree to all that work without some kind of deposit?!? I'm totally not saying he had it coming or anything because it's just not right. But the guy doing the work was a fool for doing all the work without some kind of deposit or something. If someone new to me asked for 16k worth of work, I'd get a fat deposit first. Oh yeah, and a SIGNED work order!

well like at first it was just a paint job right? Than the kid kept calling up to get more **** added and the kid never came up to see how the work was going. He just did it all over the phone or email I guess. That's what I got from it anyways.

Cant believe I read all of it, and some of the side links. Funny stuff (well, not for the shop and family), would of liked to come to an end after all that reading. Guess I'll have to keep track of it and see if the celi dosent wind up on ebay like the guy said.

I'm not going to read 51 pages, someone fill me in.

some guy did 16K worth of work on a car and then the owner just took the car and never paid ? is that correct ? there was a $60 deposit ?

The pictures are the work done? and the kid has apparently offered $60 of his chicks money twards a $16,000 bill, and expected to steal his car by acting all "bawler" and and telling em to have it polished and ready, facing the nearest escape route. laugh.gif

Both are from Florida - nothing else seems to be the same?

I don't think that's the same guy, the guy in the 6gc profile seems to be able to spell. The scammer kid is a horrible speller and his grammar SUCKS

The shop should have asked for registrations of the car, the guy is obviously a scammer but the shop wasn't careful from what I can see.

Kid dropped his car off at a local shop to have a paint job done. Paid his deposit on the paint job, and then left. Then he would call up and tell them to put on a kit, carbon fiber this and that, turbo install, etc. - they ask for money, he says his sponsors will cover it. When they tell him it's all done he tells them to have it washed, waxed, etc. and out front ready (probably with the idea of stealing it). It wasn't parked out front, and the kid had no money. The car is in his mom's name and he hasn't made a car payment in two months - the car is about to be repo'ed.

To add some info to the quick summary 95CelicaST made..

Then the kids jail bait GF comes in and asks if they can pay in installments and offers a $60 deposit (insulting amount of money). So of course that doesn't happen. Then the kid starts making threats saying that the shop owner is going to go to jail and that he has a warrant for his arrest. Nothing happens.

Later on (a few days) the kid shows up with his mom and a cop and the cop tells the owner that he's not going to be arrested and he doesn't have to return the car until he is paid for his work and that his lien takes precedence over the bank's (who want to repo it).. so he moves the car to a safe area so that it does not get damaged and the interents find out and it spreads like wildfire. (thats what I got from that part of the story at least, I don't know the specifics nor do I really care to go back and read 10 pages. wink.gif )

I think they were talking about auctioning it off for charity since the shop owner will probably be the owner of this Celica in the end.

i dontated to the shop owner, it sucks so bad to have that happen to him. Its true he could have done a couple of things different(work order, ect ect) but the kid totally took advantage of him and is trying to get an amazing show car for free! which is just BS! best part is... Its his MOM's car biggrin.gif

I live about 30 minutes from the shop and from what ive heard there about the best you can get in fl. I feel bad for them too. Hope the kid rots in jail.

i stopped reading this thread last night at about 2ish... came back home today round 5 and another 40 pages to read! my god, this is an amazing piece of work, the entire online car community is in on this thing it seems! i hope his shop stays in business!

wow unreal... I cant believe a kid would go that low and not even think about it... If i had some cash I'd get a new paintjob tho smile.gif too bad he just had a 16 year old gf and 60 bucks tho lol... the shop should have required some sort of down payment or check before they saw the kid and knew he probably couldnt afford everything going into that celica

Hmm yeah except I think everyone's already planning that. That kid is probably LONG gone especially since he's a internet star now and wanted by like every car enthusiast across the country.

There's probably already people who are beating him up smile.gif

I hope the car gets auctioned off for charity. Its a pretty good looking car despite the ghey 2 tone scheme, and since its an auto my GF can drive it.
